This afternoon in Severn, Maryland, we proudly welcomed USA BMX and the East Coast Nationals to Severn Danza Park! Elected officials and key stakeholders came together to welcome the hundreds of athletes from across the country to this exciting, one-of-a-kind event. This is more than just a race – it’s a celebration of youth and amateur sports and a major driver of economic impact for our region. With the USA BMX Nationals joining other standout events, such as the Annapolis Sailboat Show, this weekend underscores how diverse sports and tourism events bring together visitors from around the world, infusing our local economy with growth and opportunity. Today, the team at Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County attended the opening day press breakfast to learn about this year’s Annapolis Sailboat Show. And we learned a lot! There will be amazing demos of course, new boats premiering at the show- 16 to be exact, sailing influencers, new products, hands on classes, of course painkillers and more… But… Have you ever wondered what it takes to really put on the world’s largest in-water boat show every October in the ??of #Annapolis? They are celebrating their 54th year this weekend, so they know what they are doing! Check out these stats ??? ???9 full time employees put on 4 boat shows annually ?? ??140 temporary staff join the ranks for the two weeks of boat shows in Annapolis ??1 mile of docks are placed along the waterfront for the shows, including a few more on Spa Creek for Powerboat Show’s Brokerage Cove ??80% of the temporary staff are MD residents, with 50% of volunteers returning year over year ??4000 plastic water bottles are diverted through refill stations throughout the show provided by ANNAPOLIS GREEN INC ???????? 1 Kids Scavenger hunt, organized by the EWE Spirit Foundation, because boating is better with the whole family! ?????? Rasheeda Martin, STS, previously the Director of Sales at Explore York, is the new senior director of external relations at Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County in Maryland.
