United Way's?Project Joy helps alleviate the burden of the holidays for local families by matching our generous supporters with Greenville County students and wish lists of essential items. Last year, through the generosity of this community of donors and volunteers, we were able to support 700?students across Greenville County. Now, we're inviting you to join us in making this our most impactful year yet. Our elves are working with Greenville County Schools to continue to meet the needs of as many local students as possible. Be on the lookout for even more opportunities arriving?throughout the next several weeks. We hope you'll join us to make?spirits bright across Greenville County this holiday season. Your support will help provide families in our community with the resources they need to build the lives they deserve.

Fall for Greenville is here! This incredible annual event attracts people from across the country to experience all that makes our downtown community so great. Your support this year will benefit the United Way of Greenville County Community Relief Fund as well as BeLoved Asheville who are continuing to provide much needed aid to our neighbors up in Western North Carolina. Join us on Saturday, Nov. 2 (8 pm ET/7 pm CT), on CBS and CMT, for a special night of hope and healing featuring musical performances and celebrity guests. UNITED WAY BENEFIT FOR HURRICANE RELIEF? is a one-hour special bringing together some of the biggest names across music and entertainment, to raise critical funds for recovery efforts following Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Proceeds from the special will support long-term recovery efforts and benefit families across the southeastern U.S. #UnitedForRecovery

At United Way of Greenville County, we are constantly evolving our work to meet the needs of our neighbors and move our community forward. At the helm of this work is our own visionary leader, President and CEO Meghan Barp. ? Earlier this week, Meghan was awarded the Visionary Leadership Award from Elliott Davis at Community Foundation of Greenville and TOWN magazine's Charitable Giving Awards. Her innovative leadership over the last seven years has truly transformed our work and allowed us to impact more lives across Greenville County. ? “When I think about this award, I think it should be given to someone who literally wakes up every day thinking about how to make our community better. Sunday marked one month since we woke up to the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene throughout our region. From the very earliest moments following the storm’s arrival, our community has shown the resiliency, generosity and caring spirit that makes Greenville County so special. United Way of Greenville County has been proudly serving on the frontlines of our collective relief and recovery efforts. Powered by remarkable financial and volunteer support, we have been able to provide: ? More than 20,000 meals to Greenville County families. ? 2,450 nights of temporary housing for 175 displaced families through our partnership with Airbnb. ? Tons (literally) of nonperishable food items, water, clothing, diapers, nursing supplies, first aid and more for distribution to local service providers. ? Connections to essential support resources for more than 1,500 callers to our 211 helpline. As the recovery continues, so does our work. While in many cases the immediate crises brought on by Hurricane Helene have somewhat subsided, there are still many families in our community struggling to fully recover from the longer-term effects of the storm. Far too many people in Greenville County live paycheck to paycheck. Missing even one week of income due to the storm closure for these families makes paying for rent, utilities, and even putting food on the table—difficult to begin with—nearly impossible. Your support is helping these families continue to recover. Together, we are building a brighter future for all in this extraordinary community we call home. Thank you.

When Helene hit communities across our Upstate and Western North Carolina, Greenville County stepped up to take care of our own impacted by loss of power and access to critical resources. Thanks to the generosity of this community, we have continued to meet the most immediate needs of our neighbors, providing fresh food, water, hygiene supplies and more to families and individuals whose circumstances were exacerbated by this natural disaster. Together, we have distributed over 19,500 meals to Greenville County families. Our ongoing community-wide donation drive has brought in tons of essentials like non-perishable food, water, clothing, diapers and nursing supplies, first aid and so much more—all being distributed by the truckload to schools, neighborhoods and organizations across our community. And we continue to work with local leaders, regional partners and federal groups to ensure needs are being met right here in Greenville County. None of this is possible without your support, and we still need your help. Your gift to our Community Relief Fund will help us continue to meet the evolving post-Helene needs in our community—like rent and utility assistance.
