November's Leadership Berks session explored a variety of leadership topics ranging from Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging with Dr. Darryl Mace of Alvernia University; to a higher education panel discussion featuring Dr. Leamor Kahanov of Alvernia University, Dr. Susan Looney of Reading Area Community College, Dr. Todd Migliaccio of Pennsylvania State University-Penn State Berks and Dr. Debra Townsley of Albright College; to learning about fundraising from our own Sheila Tulli. The group ended the day with a session on team dynamics led by Daren Kullman. Thank you to our presenters and panelists for an engaging day. ?

关于我们
We're doing right, right here. Providing help, hope and opportunity to 190,000 Berks Countians. And it starts with U Our work is only possible with the great support demonstrated by the community, including over 1,400 volunteers and more than 9,000 contributors. We bring together businesses, community organizations, the educational community, labor and others to strengthen Berks County. By working with our 33 agency partners, nonprofits and trained volunteers we invest in strategies to create community change. By managing initiatives like 2-1-1 we connect people with community resources through a free, 24/7 Information & Referral service. We lead the community initiative Ready.Set.READ! to focus on early grade reading proficiency, and ultimately help kids achieve academic success and shape our community’s future.

Our ELU members have been busy this month! In recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, they collected over 600 hygiene products to support local organizations. Some items were donated to Safe Berks, with the remaining supplies distributed yesterday at Mary's Shelter of Reading Pennsylvania, where ELU members volunteered by sorting donations and touring the facility to learn more about its impact. Last week, ELU members also attended the Shady Hollow Assisted Riding Stall Crawl to explore their work—and even had the chance to #hugahorse! Thank you, ELU, for your dedication to our community! Penske Truck Leasing recently hosted a training and teambuilding session with a special twist — team members worked together to assemble bikes that were donated to local agencies, creating a direct impact on our community! Through their efforts, 20 bikes were provided to clients of local nonprofits, and 14 bikes went to the Olivet Boys & Girls Club Boys & Girls Club. The bikes given to Reading Citadel Salvation Army, Literacy Council of Reading-Berks, Inc., Berks Counseling Center, Berks Latino Workforce Development Corporation (BLWDC), BOYERTOWN AREA MULTI-SERVICE INC, Connections Work, Family Promise of Berks County, Hope Rescue Mission Lighthouse Women's and Children's Shelter, Mary's Shelter of Reading Pennsylvania, Opportunity House, and United Community Services, will provide adult clients with reliable transportation for work, school, and other needs. We’re so grateful to Penske for their commitment to serving our community. It was an honor for United Way to help coordinate this effort and connect Penske with the agencies that will benefit.?
