We had a great start to the week, joining more than 40 UW–Madison faculty and staff at the Pyle Center to hear Lubab Sheet-Davis of UI Collab share many of the best practices, lessons learned and helpful tips & tricks for university-industry engagement that she’s developed over her illustrious career. Join the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, University of Wisconsin-Madison and Wisconsin School of Business for a virtual panel "Planet, People, Profit: Careers in Corporate Sustainability" on Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m. The rising importance of sustainability and conservation has created the need for a new business professional: one who can optimize growth and profitability while also operating sustainably. According to LinkedIn’s 2024 Green Skills Report, the global demand for this “green talent” increased by nearly 12% in just one year, while the supply of these professionals grew by just under 6%—highlighting a critical need in the workforce. During this virtual event, alumni experts will share industry knowledge and tips, discuss career pathways in the field, and examine how sustainability and business can successfully coexist. At last week's Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents meeting, a panel of entrepreneurs, university leaders and business experts outlined a new vision for how UW–Madison can better support students, faculty, and alumni in launching businesses — and why that shift is critical for Wisconsin’s economy.?

We were thrilled to welcome our industry engagement colleagues from across campus to our Industry Engagement Collaborative (IEC) networking breakfast this morning. Specials thank to Nick Pasquarello, Executive Director of the W Club and Strategic Partnerships at Wisconsin Athletics, who shared the different ways UW Athletics approaches industry partnership and where there are opportunities for cross-campus collaboration — especially in the changing landscape of college athletics. RABBIT (Research and Business-Bridging Intelligence Tool) is an AI-powered faculty discovery tool designed and developed by OBE and DSI to help faculty and staff who seek researchers on campus with specific expertise.
