“Whether it’s a new drug, a new antibody, or a new imaging technique, we’ve done that,” he said. “But it isn’t just about basic research, it’s about how we can quickly translate that research into real benefits for people.” UW Carbone Cancer Center's Howard Bailey https://lnkd.in/gxnMKW3m

Celebrating 50 years as Wisconsin's only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center.
关于我们
The UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) holds the unique distinction of being the only comprehensive cancer center in Wisconsin, as designated by the National Cancer Institute, the lead federal agency for cancer research. Every day, we reach out to residents of Wisconsin and beyond by providing them with important health education messages. From technical assistance to educational programs, the UWCCC is the bridge between new research discoveries and their applications in the community. The UWCCC is an integral part of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Hospital and Clinics, which is consistently in the top 25 of 50 hospitals in the annual U.S. News and World Report's "America's Best Hospitals," specifically for its cancer care and research efforts. Becki Clark’s professional and personal lives collided after a mammogram earlier this year. Clark, the breast imaging coordinator in UW Health | Carbone Cancer Center’s Breast Center for the past 27 years, couldn't help but feel the irony when her routine yearly screening revealed an abnormality in her breast. “I didn’t have any breast problems going into the mammogram. I thought it was going to be like every screening mammogram I have had over the last 10 years," Clark said. "I was completely shocked with the results." Clark's coworkers became part of her care team as she underwent treatment for stage I invasive ductal carcinoma. Read more: https://uw.health/3NwLJJt #breastcancer #breastcancerawarenessmonth
