UVA Health Haymarket Medical Center, UVA Health Prince William Medical Center, UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center, UVA Community Medical Group, and associated medical clinics and outpatient facilities became fully owned and operated by UVA Health in July 2021. This exciting alignment brought three community hospitals, a network of primary and specialty medical practices and outpatient centers, a medical staff of more than 850 physicians representing 60 specialties and sub-specialties, and approximately 2,500 team members, providing high-quality care to the communities of Culpeper and Northern Virginia. Earlier this week, I got to sit down and talk with UVA Health — Northern Virginia and Culpeper chief nursing officer Michelle Strider over tea as part of its first-ever three-day nursing fair. We shared a bit about our own stories, and chatted about the nearly endless opportunities available in nursing and nursing education at UVA Health. It was great fun to hit the road and meet a few of the incredible clinicians who make our health system the energized, compassionate place it is: a place that invests in its people and assures that they’ll grow. I also shared that, as my mother’s daughter, I LOVE the satisfaction of a good polish. I was extra proud to bring School’s silver tea set - used in weekly McKim Hall services with nursing students and house mothers from about 1920 through the 1960s – as a “show and tell.” Thank you, Michelle and my new community health friends for letting me visit . . . ?? There is a LOT to love about working and learning at University of Virginia!
