It was truly a day filled with learning, discovery, and unforgettable moments. I’m grateful to have been part of organizing something so impactful for the community! A big thank you to Dr. Josh Roach, who led this initiative, Chase Rohan from Boys & Girls Club of Central Virginia, and UVA Health's Housestaff Council for Diversity and Inclusion (HCDI) who partnered with us to make it all happen.
On November 4th, our JEDI team, in collaboration with the Departments of Surgery and Pathology, hosted an exciting community event with the Boys and Girls Club. We had the opportunity to teach the kids valuable life-saving skills, including intubation and CPR. Residents from Surgery and Pathology lead hands-on suturing exercises and helped the children explore the fascinating world of human anatomy. It was a day filled with learning, discovery, and unforgettable experiences for everyone involved! Interested in becoming a faculty member? We’re hiring! https://lnkd.in/gwS9diEZ

In honor of #WorldDiabetesDay, meet Marc Breton, PhD, an associate professor of research at the School of Medicine working with our Center for Diabetes Technology. Breton's research centers on bringing engineering techniques including mathematical modeling and automatic control into the field of medicine. One of the ways he's done that is through his work on the artificial pancreas, which combines the use of a continuous glucose monitor and an insulin pump to constantly maintain delivery levels best suited for the user's needs. ??
