CGS is glad to have been a member of G4 since it's inception and we look forward to supporting this partnership in the future and advancing surgical systems capacity around the world.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Global Alliance for Surgical, Obstetric, Trauma, and Anaesthesia Care (G4 Alliance) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This MoU is a testament to their shared commitment to enhancing emergency, critical, surgical, obstetric, trauma, and anaesthesia care all over the world, especially in low—and middle-income countries. This partnership, a significant milestone for the G4 Alliance and towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), is focused on several key areas of significant importance: - UHC: Focusing on the role of operative care as an integral part of primary healthcare systems, especially in low and middle-income countries. - Dissemination of WHO Tools: Upscaling the dissemination of WHO's clinical registry and quality improvement tools to enhance healthcare providers' capabilities in delivering operative care efficiently. - Advocacy and Fundraising: Supporting advocacy efforts, creating a community of practice, and undertaking fundraising activities to increase the adoption of quality improvement platforms, particularly in resource-limited settings. - Data Collection and Monitoring: Improving outcomes and quality of operative care services through continuous data collection, analysis, and monitoring for service development and quality improvement. Claudio Tanca, Executive Director of G4 Alliance, said, "We are thrilled to join forces with WHO. Our shared commitment to advancing surgical, obstetric, trauma, and anaesthesia (SOTA) care is critical in achieving universal health coverage.?Together, we aim to make a lasting impact on the lives of millions of patients in low and middle-income countries." We look forward to working closely with WHO to realize the objectives outlined in the MoU. Thank you to all our members who encouraged and supported the G4 Alliance during the entire process. Your continued dedication is crucial as we strive to improve the quality of and access to SOTA care globally.
