关于我们
The Margie and Bill Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design (Klesse College) at UTSA is leading the way in engineering and professional design research and education. All of our programs offer curricula that combine a strong theoretical background with hands-on experience in excellent labs, with a focus on teamwork and communication skills. Klesse College’s world-class faculty members hail from such prestigious institutions as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, John Hopkins University, Cornell University, The University of Texas-Austin, Texas A&M, Carnegie Mellon University, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Purdue University, University of Illinois, University of California at Berkeley, and Rice University. Our professors are citizens of the world, coming to Texas from countries including India, Turkey, China, Egypt, Mexico, Spain and Colombia, just to name a few. Students who choose UTSA have the opportunity to interact one-on-one with top-rate faculty members in both the classroom and in research laboratories, creating an atmosphere that is truly conducive to learning. Cutting-edge research in a wide range of areas such as energy, cloud computing, materials, and biomedicine, architecture, urban planning and historic preservation is federally and state funded at UTSA. To aid the economic development of the nation, the college also works closely with industry. It is our goal to have 100% of our students take part in experiential learning outside of the classroom before they graduate so that they can get a feel for what it is like to apply their curricular knowledge to a real-world, engineering experience. Klesse College prepares students for lifelong learning and careers in engineering professions and has been ranked for five years in a row as being among the top 10 best graduate schools for Hispanics.

Shrihari “Shri” Sankarasubramanian,?assistant professor of biomedical and chemical engineering in the?Margie and Bill Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design, received a $50,000 grant from NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration for his research at The University of Texas at San Antonio. His grant, the second one he’s received from NASA, is for the development of an electrochemical process to separate the hydrogen and oxygen from the ice found in craters on the dark side of the moon and under the Martian soil. “Grants like this help to extend the duration of the time we can spend exploring our nearest celestial neighbors, the moon and Mars,” Sankarasubramanian said. The Klesse College Tech Symposium is coming up soon. Take a sneak peek at one of the projects that will be presented in the Design II level. The Magic Mitts have been working for two semesters to bring this project to life and like any project, there have been hurdles, but rarely do we get things right the first time. They are using technology to bring a real-life feel to the virtual reality space. What they have learned, how they have progressed and what they will present next week is impressive! Stop by the Tech Symposium (https://lnkd.in/gkNy7npm) on November 26 to see this project and meet over 80 other student-led teams who are presenting ideas on how to solve world challenges. There are so many things to know about actuators. The most important thing to know is that they are everywhere. Mechanical Engineering Professor Dr. Cody Gonzalez and students in his Design of Actuators Robotics & Transducers (DART) Lab recently won a $449,000 grant to develop a new type of actuator. Working with the Office of Naval Research, this team from The University of Texas at San Antonio will help to develop actuators that will power themselves.
