We were delighted to welcome BBC‘s Economics Editor and Newsnight Presenter, Faisal Islam, to our head office this week. ? Faisal joined our Chairman, Derek Lickorish MBE, to hear first-hand that the cost-of-living crisis is far from over for many of our vulnerable customers - with energy prices still 40% higher than pre-pandemic levels.?Backed by the 60% increase in customers requesting financial support during summer, alongside the ongoing downward trend of gas consumption, it is clear to see that an urgent intervention is needed.? ? To ensure the most vulnerable households are kept warm during the colder months, we believe a social discount, underpinned by smart data and technology, should be applied on a tiered basis directly to meter balances or bills. ?
