We partnered with the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) on the first study that leverages distributed AI to explore how EV charging behaviors impact the grid. Our distributed AI platform, Karman, analyzed waveform data at EV charging stations and?found that EV charging: - Can cause unexpected rapid swings in current draw - Lowers local voltage significantly - Causes variability in local voltage - Lowers power quality by introducing current harmonics generated from the conversion of AC to DC power - Showed potential to support voltage recovery in the presence of a grid fault ?
