Associate Professor in the University of Tennessee-Health Science Center College of Medicine, Seetharaman Jayaraman, PhD, played a key role in the validation of 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry winner David Baker, PhD's groundbreaking theoretical ideas about protein design, which contributed to Dr. Baker’s Nobel-winning achievements. “I consider myself fortunate to be a member of this team because my expertise differs significantly from that of the other faculty members; thus, we complement each other. That’s what’s very important, and it’s why we hopefully get some good results.” - Dr. Jayaraman Read more about his work and career on our website: https://lnkd.in/eugCACdp #UTHSC #Research

With genetic data from Le Bonheur Children's Hospital and The University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s Biorepository and Integrative Genomics (BIG) Initiative, Drs. Jonathan Finder, MD, and Terri Finkel are collaboratively working towards better diagnosing patients with childhood interstitial lung disease (chILD)?and determining its genetic causes.
A five-year, $3 million National Institutes of Health research project (R01) grant will allow UT Health Science Center and Le Bonheur Children's Hospital physicians Jonathan D. Finder, MD, and Terri Finkel, MD, PhD, to combine data from UT Health Science Center and Le Bonheur to help doctors better diagnose childhood lung diseases and understand their genetic causes. Way to go Dr. Athena Starlard-Davenport! Dr. Davenport is an expert in sickle cell disease, breast cancer, and health disparities research.
Tenured Associate Professor of Genetics, Genomics and Informatics at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center
I am so honored to be a featured speaker during the 2024 ASHG Presidential Symposium: Mendelian traits: Thinking about Complexity in the World of “Simple” Genetics in Denver, CO. I spoke on how genetic complexity modifies a paradigmatic simple genetic trait in sickle cell disease. It was great to be a panelist alongside Bruce Gelb, Dean at Mt Sinai and President of ASHG, Gregory Radick, Professor and historian at University of Leeds, and Stanislav Shvartsman, Professor and expert in stochastics at Princeton University.
