A new tool is helping UToledo Health surgeons remove cancerous tissue more precisely during lumpectomy procedures, allowing for shorter, more accurate procedures. A lumpectomy is a breast-conserving surgery that is less invasive and preserves most of the breast. The procedure is an alternative to a mastectomy, where the entire breast is removed. “With the technology UToledo Health has invested in, we’re able to do these procedures with an extremely high level of accuracy — which helps ensure we’re getting all the cancer out while also preserving as much of the breast tissue as possible.” said Dr. Natalie Rizk, a specialized breast surgeon who joined UToledo Health in December to lead the Eleanor N. THANK YOU Rocket Nation for coming together to celebrate #RocketForward Day of Giving. Celebrating the eighth-annual campaign, the 36-hour effort generated 3,882 gifts through online donations and live event participation leading to $2,102,228 million. The 2025 campaign finished strong with a 58% increase in gifts and additional $389,106 compared to the previous year. Even in a time when people are extremely intentional about how they spend their time, energy and funds, we can see the dedication of the UToledo community and our gratitude goes well beyond what we can express in words.
