???? The Utah Consular Corps is proud to highlight the recent visit of the highest-level Czech delegation ever to Utah! Led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ji?í Kozák and supported by Consul General Amb. Jaroslav Ol?a, Jr., and our very own Vice President, Honorary Consul Jonathon Tichy, this impactful visit spanned 3 days of meaningful engagement. The delegation connected with leaders from the University of Utah, Brigham Young University, Utah Valley University, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to discuss crucial humanitarian aid efforts in Ukraine and elsewhere. They also met with Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall, Senate President Stewart Adams, and networked with business leaders at World Trade Center Utah. This visit further strengthens the relationship between Utah and the Czech Republic, paving the way for future collaboration.

I am so grateful for the chance to give back through an appointment as Honorary Consul to the United Kingdom in Utah since November 2022. Months later we celebrated with this appointment ceremony at the Utah State Capitol. My love for the people of the UK has only deepened since my time at the University of Oxford, and through cherished relationships such as my British business partner over the past 20 years James Harrison and our late Chairman of the Board of Clarke Capital Partners, Lord David Rowe Beddoe. I am grateful to Franz Kolb for his warm support and to Consul General Emily Cloke for her exceptional leadership. Emily, your brilliance and kindness have been truly inspiring, and while it’s hard to say goodbye, we wish you every success in your future endeavors. I am incredibly indebted to my dear friends and fellow Honorary Consuls Baldomero Lago, PhD, Jonathan Freedman (who inspired this whole effort through his encouragement), Kirk Jowers, and those of the Utah Consular Corps. I thank Governor Spencer Cox and Jonathan Freedman for their instrumental leadership in advancing our state's partnership with the UK through the critical UK-UT memorandum of understanding (MOU), which is far more than just design, it is actually working for the prosperity of both state and country. My own great-great grandfather, for whom I am named, was born in Clifford, England (on the Welsh boarder) exactly 200 years ago. Reflecting on Utah’s rich ties with the UK, I’m reminded of how our shared history and British heritage have shaped our state. From the pioneering spirit of early settlers to our collaborations in the thriving technology and aerospace industries, our connections continue to drive shared prosperity by modern-day pioneers. I am committed to furthering this "special relationship" and building on this legacy with dedication and honor. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who works so diligently to support this important UK-UT relationship. Here’s to continuing our journey together and achieving even greater success! I thank my better 9/10ths Andrea Clarke our three crown jewels, Savannah, Jack, and Ryan, and to all our cherished family - especially my dear siblings - and friends for attending.
