UV50 Spotlight: Gabb! ?? Gabb is this year’s No. 11 Fastest-Growing Company in Utah Valley, with 895% revenue growth from 2020 to 2023. “Gabb has seen explosive growth over the five years we have been in business!” says Parker Hansen, VP of People and Culture. “While we could talk about revenue growth, our largest and most important indicator is how many customers we have helped. We have helped over 600,000 kids get access to safe tech.” And that's something to be proud of. #gabb #safetech #techforkids #utahvalleybusiness #siliconslopes

Last Friday, Utah celebrated a business behemoth. ?? Trucordia (based in Lindon) celebrated its rebrand from PCF Insurance Services to Trucordia with a formal ribbon cutting and ceremony, where speakers like Jeanette Bennett and Gov. Gary Herbert shared congratulatory speeches. Clint Betts with Silicon Slopes also made an appearance, accepting a donation for the Utah Lunch Debt Relief Foundation. The name "Trucordia" creates a combination of "trust" and "accord." “We love our new home in Lindon,” said Felix Morgan. “It offers a vibrant business community, and our new headquarters will empower us to continue to grow. As one of the state’s top economic drivers, we are excited to give back to our community as evidenced by our recent founding sponsorship of the Utah Hockey Club.” Governor Herbert shared a business-adjacent lesson he learned from his father who was raised on a farm. “The secret of having a good harvest is having good soil,” says Gov. Herbert. “In Utah, we need a good fertile soil for entrepreneurs to plant their seeds and grow their businesses. Trucorida is a good example of this, that went from a smaller business to one of the fastest-growing businesses in Utah and the nation.” About the company: ? Trucordia has more than 5,000 employees across the U.S. ? A notable leader in the insurance brokerage space, Trucordia is currently ranked #19 on Business Insurance's 2024 Top 100 Brokers and #13 on Insurance Journal's 2024 Top Property/Casualty Agencies. ? Inc. 5000 listed the company as one of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies and it was named one of Utah’s top five Fastest Growing Companies in Utah Business’s Fast 50 rankings. Helperly: a new startup focused on Helping the Elderly.??? Caleb Richardson founded this business as a way to honor seniors’ individual progress by creating true connection. ?? ?? The Helperly services and an app are all for the purpose of helping seniors recreate the version of themselves they love the most, and not just "get the help they need.” Services include transportation services, connecting seniors with various classes (such as computer, exercise or music), and companion care. The team is also building a predictive care algorithm into the Helperly app to help get older adults connected to services before they suffer injuries or lose loved ones. Check out the Q+A with Caleb! ?? Q: What is one of the most loved aspects of Helperly? A: “We create experiences. We host or partner with local organizations to put on meaningful activities that help seniors continue to experience life. Too often people try to ‘bubble wrap’ older adults like they're fragile cargo, but we've found that older adults really just want to keep on living just like their younger counterparts.” Q: Share a “business blunder” you have learned from. A: “It's romanticized in the professional space that once you get capital you hire a bunch of people and things just work. It's not true at all. I hired too many too soon and ended up not hitting the milestones I had set out to hit. Never make hires off of a financial model that you don't have 90%+ confidence is going to work out using data and not just gut instincts. Once your business is math, then you can make a financial model and hire against it.” Q: What is one of the most rewarding parts? A: “Hearing seniors’ stories and wisdom. Older adults have lived through the end of segregation, multiple wars, multiple economic booms and downturns, the advent of the internet, and many other significant world events. Hearing their perspective is eye opening and life changing. Helping them memorialize those stories through our app and services so they're never forgotten is also awesome.” iHub Innovation Hub of Utah #helperly #elderlyservices #seniorcare #utahvalleybusiness #utahstartup #ihub #ihubutah #utahentrepreneur

Our mission is to arm attorneys with the best communication suite possible so that their clients receive the proper care and attention they deserve.” ?? UV50 Spotlight ?? No. 8 Fastest-Growing Company: Skill Struck! Kids in STEM! ??? Skill Struck has created customizable computer science and AI solutions that any teacher, coding experience or not, can use to teach computer science in K-12 classrooms. “We pivoted several times before arriving at this business model,” says Parker Gentry, CEO. “At first, we did one-week coding summer camps, then we moved to 1:1 coding tutoring weekly, and then we started trying to sell that as an employee benefit to corporations. While all of them were a similar mission to what we do today, we didn’t find enough urgency in our business model to grow revenue quickly enough, and we weren’t serving the underserved students we wanted to reach. After two years, we made the big jump to start working with schools and haven’t looked back!” In the 2023-2024 school year, they served 148,000 students. Talk about making a difference! “Our curriculum is carefully scaffolded, making sure students as early as kindergarten are engaged in computer science and coding concepts,” Parker says. “By the time students reach 12th grade, they have a digital portfolio they can use to get jobs in tech or continue their education. Our goal is to prepare students for the future.” #kidsintech #stemjobs #codingforkids #education #skillstruck #computerscience
