The Utah Prison Education Project (UPEP) at the University of Utah is a multidisciplinary collaborative effort providing on-site college curriculum and programming to students incarcerated in the Salt Lake Correctional Facility, and engaging non-incarcerated communities in issues of imprisonment. Through embodying the mission of the University of Utah, UPEP assists incarcerated students and non-incarcerated volunteers to live lives of impact, both in prison and post-incarceration, by fostering academic excellence, leadership, and civic engagement. On February 20, 2025, Salt Lake Valley Youth Center (SLVYC) STEMCAP students had a behind-the-scenes tour of the Delta Center, gaining insights into arena operations, career paths (including those for people who are systems impacted), and the evolving role of STEM in sports and entertainment. ????
