Our mission is to promote a welcoming climate that builds opportunity and belonging in Utah.
关于我们
Opportunity-building involves trying to understand and give people what they need to be able to enjoy full, healthy lives. It aims to promote access and fairness by addressing barriers that prevent people from equally thriving. It involves working in partnership with people and communities to understand gaps and develop solutions. Through our partnerships and programming we strive to celebrate all that Utah is and can become so that all people feel like they belong and that this is their home—a place to invest in.

Our wonderful division director and Governor's Senior Advisor, Nubia Pe?a was named one of #Utahwomen40over40 in recognition of her leadership and impact statewide. This event brought together change-makers across the state to acknowledge champions from various sectors building up Utah! Thank you to Julia Deaver and Robyn Cohen for coordinating this experience and bringing us together to celebrate these phenomenal women. Congratulations to Nubia once again for this recognition!

Recently, in partnership with BelongInUtah of economic opportunity and belonging, we hosted our Young Professionals Networking Social. We were joined by Braver Angels on how to better facilitate respectful, open dialogue on topics that are challenging and polarizing. Through bridging, we can create a foundation of understanding, and build a greater sense of collaboration. Thank you to our young professionals who engaged in thoughtful conversation with their peers. Join our next Young Professionals Networking Social this upcoming November! Contact Claudia Loayza at [email protected] or Bailey Rivera-Wymes at [email protected] for more information.

A major update for our division! We have onboarded three full-time staff and one student fellow into our team: Lydia Bigcraft, Dustin Khong, Noriadnys Gomez Romay, and Student Fellow Sydney Gillman were all recently welcomed to our MCA family. We are eager to innovate together as a division and hear fresh perspectives as we continue to grow. With exciting programming ahead, we are expanding opportunities to support Utahns across the state.

When you practice kindness you are able to better practice leadership. Thanks to our partnership with One Kind Act a Day, the Utah Division of Juvenile Justice and Youth Services, and several other service minded organizations, this is what our recent cohort of system involved youth were able to learn this summer. The youth summarize the lessons that one kind act a day can make an impact with a mural. Their mentors Tracy Williams and Rob Pacheco were joined by community partners to celebrate the healing and growth that occurred at Farmington Bay youth detention center. Thank you to the SEMNANI FAMILY FOUNDATION for personally recognizing youth and staff for their incredible efforts and to our partners, Ogden Contemporary Arts, the Utah Division of Arts and Museums, and University Neighborhood Partners for continuing to support programming that leads to empowered healing.
