? Professional Night Recap: A Night of Growth & Connection! ? Our Professional Night this past Friday was a huge success! We had our president, O. Mariam Oyeyemi , lead an insightful session on Professionalism 101, covering the job application process, LinkedIn, resumes, and interviews—all key elements of personal branding. A special thank you to our guests Willie Sublet III and Lynette W. from the Dallas/Fort Worth Alliance of Black Accountants joining us and sharing their impact on the community. Our Membership Director and ABA Student Member, Elbethel Moges did a fantastic job highlighting their initiatives and how they support aspiring professionals. ?? Shoutout to our amazing members who showed up, took initiative, and worked on their professional presence. A huge thank you to our dedicated officers(Jacob Alvarado, Jesse Shin, Juliana Galindo, and Luz Cardenas ) for leading the breakout sessions, which included: ? Hands-on resume reviews ? LinkedIn profile setup ? Mock interviews ??Tyler Le our incredible event photographer, provided professional headshots for our members—what an invaluable addition! Anjolaoluwa Oyeyemi our marketing director for taking videos and capturing the moment of the event! We also want to recognize Alexa Vargas, Gino De Luna, and our member Kobe Shutter for their generosity in conducting mock interviews and providing personalized feedback. A special thanks to Jocelyn V. who carefully reviewed each resume, offering insightful AI-powered resume improvement tips—emphasizing how AI can be a great tool but should never replace personal effort. As college students themselves, they went above and beyond to give back and support their peers, and we truly appreciate their contributions! Lastly, our heartfelt appreciation goes to our advisor, Stephanie Rasmussen whose presence and support reinforced the strength of our community. ?? Looking Ahead: We’d love to host this event again and welcome input from industry professionals on making it even better. One key lesson we’ve learned? Timing is everything—next time, we’ll avoid scheduling within Spring Break week! This event came together last minute after a firm had to cancel, yet the outcome was beyond what we could have imagined. We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who helped make it a success! Thank you to all who contributed—this is what professional growth and community are all about! Let’s keep the momentum going! ?? #ProfessionalNight #AccountingSociety #PersonalBranding #mavup

A huge thank you to Adam K. Coen, Jon Anantaphathanawong, Stephanie Galvan, Yessica Mandujano and Huong Nguyen from CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) for joining us today and sharing their insights on the evolving accounting profession! With so many UTA alumni returning to speak with us, it makes us proud to see ourselves in them and envision our own future success. We also want to extend our gratitude to Matthew Berning for organizing this event with us, even though he couldn’t make it. We truly appreciate him for sending such an incredible group in his stead! During the session, we learned valuable lessons about the impact of AI on accounting—how it's not taking jobs but rather transforming them. Our guest speakers reassured us that the key is to embrace AI as a tool rather than fear it as a replacement. They also addressed concerns about internships, emphasizing that while some firms offshore work, CLA does not, giving interns more hands-on experience and immediate feedback. Adam K. Coen reminded us that honest communication and constructive criticism are essential for growth, as feedback comes from a place of support, not attack. Jon Anantaphathanawong encouraged us to "be comfortable being lost", reassuring us that internships are full of learning curves that eventually click into place. A special thanks to Stephanie Galvan and Yessica Mandujano for sharing their experiences with CLA’s DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) program and how their involvement with Una Familia fosters a strong, collaborative community. And of course, thank you to Huong Nguyen for her insightful advice on the CPA exam—her encouragement to take it as soon as possible while still in the study mindset truly resonated with us. Her intelligence and work ethic inspire us all! It was a great event filled with valuable insights, and we appreciate CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) for taking the time to invest in our growth and development. We look forward to more opportunities like this! Also, a big thank you for the cool swag items—we always love some great accounting merch! #accountingsociety #mavup #buckem
