There is a significant opportunity in the U.S. to modernize and upgrade our airport systems for upcoming travel. As a member of the U.S. Travel Association (USTA) Commission, our Shawn Kinder collaborated with fellow USTA members to produce recommendations for modernizing America’s travel systems to make U.S. travel more efficient, secure and globally competitive.
?? America is falling behind—and it’s costing us. Our outdated travel systems can’t keep up with the growing demand, threatening U.S. global competitiveness. Without swift action, we risk losing our position as the world’s leader in travel. But we have a monumental opportunity ahead to reclaim that top spot—and a clear plan to get there. The Commission on Seamless and Secure Travel has just unveiled a roadmap to: ? Modernize airport screening and customs ? Eliminate bureaucratic delays ? Strengthen national security Explore how these policies can restore America’s leadership in global travel: showcaseamericantravel.org. Let’s get to work to #ModernizeAmericanTravel.
Modernize American Travel Experience Now

It was great having U.S. Travel Association’s National Chair, Bill Hornbuckle, in Washington earlier this month for talks with Administration officials, including Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, and Senators Jacky Rosen and Jerry Moran. Our media roundtable further highlighted the massive economic potential of the upcoming mega-decade of events — and what’s at risk if the United States doesn’t rise to the occasion. ? We’re making progress, but there's still work ahead. The White House task force for the FIFA World Cup 2026 was an important first step, but seizing the nearly $100 billion growth opportunity before us demands continued partnership and decisive action. ? Our vision is clear: a seamless, secure travel experience that turns visitors into repeat guests and secures America’s place as the #1 travel destination. Grateful for Bill's partnership as we roll up our sleeves to bring this vision to life.
Earlier this month, I spent time in Washington, D.C. – my first official trip as Chairman of the U.S. Travel Association. Our visit focused on working with industry leaders and government partners to build a world-class travel experience that benefits communities across America. #TravelandTourism?

??? Sick of long lines at the airport? Us too. Former NSA General Counsel and DHS Assistant Secretary Stewart Baker explains how #biometrics — like facial recognition and fingerprint scanning — could transform travel by making identity verification faster, safer and more efficient. We need action to make this vision a reality. See the plan to make American travel the best in the world: showcaseamericantravel.org. #ModernizeAmericanTravel

??? We're one step closer to seizing the potential of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Our efforts are pushing the administration to ensure the U.S. is ready to welcome millions of visitors. ? With just 15 months to go, the newly announced White House task force is a crucial step; success depends on coordination across key departments — Transportation, State, Homeland Security and Commerce. ? “The question is, do we welcome 1 million international travelers to enjoy the World Cup, or do we welcome 8 million?” — Geoff Freeman, U.S. Travel CEO, via SportsTravel Magazine. ? We’re ready to partner with the administration to make this a transformative success and showcase America as the #1 travel destination.
