Shane Shorter, command senior enlisted leader, visited United States Military Academy at West Point to meet with cadets, tour the Center for Enhanced Performance, and learn more about West Point Werx and the Robotics Research Center, which connects warfighter needs with industry and the academic capabilities at West Point. #USMA cadets briefed Fenton on SOCOM Ignite sponsored problems and the future leaders’ participation in developing solutions vetted by active special operations forces for use on the battlefield. “What we see is it’s Ukraine against Russia, plus Iran, plus now North Korea, and certainly in materiel solutions," said U.S. Army Gen. Bryan Fenton, commander of U.S. Special Operations Command. "That’s a fusion that concerns not only the Ukrainians and NATO, but certainly the U.S. and our security senior leaders." Fenton also told the Economic Club of New York, Nov. 18, that he sees the security environment through three lenses, the first of which is the volatile alliance formed among the adversaries of the United States and its allies. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Counternarcotics and Stabilization Policy James Saenz visits the Guatemalan Naval Special Forces Command at Puerto San José, where he received briefings on the Guatemalan Navy’s counterdrug strategy and operations and toured the facility. SO/LIC's office of Counternarcotics and Stabilization Policy is responsible for developing and implementing Department of Defense policies and strategies to counter illicit activities, including transnational organized crime, threat finance, and piracy, while promoting global stability through stability operations, peacekeeping missions, and civil affairs.

U.S. Special Operations Command, U.S. Central Command, and MacDill Air Force Base teamed up for a special screening of the docuseries “Hiding in Plain Sight” at the base theater, followed by a fireside chat with former Mafia infiltrator and NBA referee Bob Delaney and SOCOM psychologist Maj. Maureen Mulholland. The pair discussed Bob’s experience with post-traumatic stress after his undercover state trooper years and spoke with audience members about identifying PTSD symptoms, unit mental health support through medical and Force and Family Readiness teams, and increasing awareness on suicide prevention resources for anyone who has experienced traumatic events. The event was rescheduled from September’s #SuicidePreventionMonth observance due to hurricane impacts in the Tampa region.
