It’s #TradeTeamTuesday – As part of the Americas Soy Purchasing and Risk Management Trade Team, soybean buyers and importers plus feed and animal protein production executives learned about U.S. Soy benefits including sustainable production, logistical advantages, technology and more. Their trip took them to Chicago and New Orleans, with farm, trading and logistics visits aimed at helping refine the process for sourcing sustainable key inputs. In Illinois, Steve Pitstick hosted the group on his Elburn farm for discussions on sustainable production practices and updates on the current crop. Next the team visited Illinois Soybean Association offices for a tour and briefing on market development, state soybean production and government relations activities. Then in Chicago, the Americas delegation visited Commodity & Ingredient Hedging (CIH) where they interacted with active oilseed traders to discuss the market outlook and their unique approach to identifying, quantifying and managing risk for businesses impacted by volatility in the agriculture commodities markets. Heading south to New Orleans, the group viewed the soy export supply chain from a personal boat tour of the river port facilities connecting to the Gulf of Mexico, followed by a stop at Russell Marine Group, a trusted source for supervision, inspection, freight booking/forwarding, testing and logistical coordination. It was a valuable exchange of information on logistics, handling, quality assessment, certification methods, and documentation, culminating in a firsthand look at physical export. #TradeTeamTuesday #USSoy
