Meet Mitch Abrahams, MD. Dr. Abrahams is our Chief Medical Officer and a urologist on the medical staff. Each leadership role at our hospital plays a key role in ensuring we are doing our best to care for our patients, employees and medical staff. We’re celebrating a HUGE milestone at USMD Hospital Arlington—20,000 robotic surgery cases completed!! Back in 2005, USMD and the physicians on our medical staff recognized the impact robotic surgery could have on patient care, and we went all in! Kathy Early, now our CEO/CNO, at the time was the Director of Surgery and she along with the surgeons on the medical staff developed our robotic surgery program! Unlike what some may think, robotic surgery isn’t performed by a robot—it’s a surgeon using robotic assistance to enhance precision, visualization, and stability, leading to a more minimally invasive procedure. Fast forward 20 years, and USMD has one of the most advanced robotic surgery programs in North Texas, with over 20,000 cases completed! We continue to lead the way with cutting-edge technology, offering five surgical robots, including three XI robots, a DV5, and a Single Port system—the busiest in the nation! A huge thank you to our dedicated team, the talented surgeons on our medical staff, and our partners at Intuitive for their support in advancing robotic-assisted surgery.
