We are still thinking about the incredible support we received for this year's Dinner in the Park! ?? For over 50 years, this annual holiday event has brought our community together, and this year made the biggest impact yet! With the support of over 400 volunteers, we served more than 6,000 Thanksgiving meals across 10 of our housing sites, gave out hundreds of ingredient boxes, and hosted the main event at our Adult Center. A huge thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and spread kindness—your generosity made this event a true success! ?? Here’s to the power of community and the spirit of giving. We’ve seen a tremendous amount of generosity on #GivingTuesday so far, but we still need your help to reach our goal of $40,000! It’s a lofty goal because the need to support interim housing is dire! Interim housing is a crucial step for those transitioning from homelessness to permanent homes. We provide essential services to support this journey, but unfortunately, our funding falls short. Government contracts don’t cover the full operating costs. The current LA County base rate for funding is $66/nightly and LAHSA and LA County have proposed raising it $3 in January to $69. Service providers collectively agree that’s not enough. The average funding gap to support one person in interim housing is $73/night! Help us finish out GivingTuesday strong!
