??PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii - Rear Adm. Dianna Wolfson, Director, Fleet Maintenance U.S. Fleet Forces Command, visited Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard as part of a trip to share ideas and collaborate with the Director, Fleet Maintenance U.S. Pacific Fleet. The trip to the shipyard enabled Wolfson the opportunity to see the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program efforts to build a new dry dock in the Pacific area of responsibility, collaborate on ideas that have enabled success at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, and spend time with Engineering Duty Officers at the Shipyard to discuss Fleet initiatives to include Global Maritime Response. Wolfson had the opportunity to visit the inside machine shop with the Mechanical Superintendent to discuss efforts that have improved inside machine shop scheduling and project management, as well as visit with Structural Fabrication Superintendent to see shop improvements and renovations. Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard is the largest industrial employer in the state of Hawai’i, with a combined civilian and military workforce of approximately 6,400 and is responsible for submarine and surface ship maintenance for the Fleet.

The Navy is comprised of passionate professionals and strong leaders like these world-class Sailors in Mayport, Florida. Vice Adm. John Gumbleton, commander, Task Force 80, and deputy commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFFC), spoke with Sailors aboard USS Lassen (DDG 82), USS Carney (DDG 64) and USS Delbert D. Black (DDG 119) this week while in Jacksonville visiting area commands as part of a scheduled visit. USFFC is responsible for manning, training, equipping, and providing combat-ready forces forward to numbered fleets and combatant commanders around the globe.

Daryl Caudle, commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, speaks to more than 70 Navy ROTC Midshipmen from the Boston Consortium, which includes six major universities across the Boston metropolitan area. Caudle spoke about the current threats facing the United States, the importance of maintaining relationships with our allies and partners, naval tactics, and technological advancements that will impact the careers of these future Navy and Marine Corps officers.

Ford Carrier Strike Group team - 5 ships, more than 60 aircraft and roughly 5,500 sailors - sailed together for the first Group Sail in the Atlantic Ocean, Nov. 20. "The Gerald R. Ford CSG Group Sail represents hard work from our civilian and uniformed staff to deliver high-quality, integrated warfighting training early in the work up cycle," said Rear Adm. Max McCoy, commander, Carrier Strike Group 4.
