Take C.H.A.R.G.E. of Battery Safety ahead of the upcoming holiday shopping season. Lithium-ion batteries have many positives, but because they're storing more energy, there are also some risks. If they're misused, mistreated or damaged, they can enter thermal runaway and cause fires. 40% of Americans are not aware of the thermal runaway risk associated with lithium-ion batteries (UL Standards & Engagement, 2024). This awareness gap can lead to tragic outcomes if safe practices are not followed. Help close that gap with our latest resources now available on https://lnkd.in/efmgQCNZ. Comment below on how you and or your organization will spread the word this season. #LithiumIonBatteries #BatteryFireSafety #HolidayFireSafety Saadia Baloch Adam Barowy Dawn Landers Ey Daniel Madrzykowski Amanda Srsic, MPH Nicole Sanders-Abbott, CSM Jennifer Williams

关于我们
Welcome to the official LinkedIn page of the U.S. Fire Administration! As an entity of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency, the mission of the U.S. Fire Administration is to provide national leadership to foster a solid foundation for our fire and emergency services stakeholders in prevention, preparedness and response. America’s fire losses today represent a dramatic improvement from more than 40 years ago. In 1971, our nation lost more than 12,000 residents and 250 firefighters to fire. Acting to stop these tragic losses, Congress passed the Federal Fire Prevention and Control Act in 1974. It created the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) and the National Fire Academy (NFA). Since that time, through data collection, public education, research and training efforts, USFA has helped to reduce fire deaths and make our communities and residents safer.

“We need technology like this to stop the fire that is coming from the wildlands, that is moving toward communities in fire prone lands.” —Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell, US Fire Administrator. Review Rain's video on the autonomous rapid wildfire response.
“Holding that tablet was almost surreal—it was hard to believe I actually had a 22,000 lb Hawk under my control.” —Chief Mike Deacon, Air Tactical Group Supervisor, HLCO Rain and Sikorsky collaborated to bring government, fire agency, and investment representatives to observe the advanced technologies enabling autonomous rapid wildfire response. This is what some of those leaders shared with us after commanding a Black Hawk? helicopter flying with Sikorsky’s MATRIX? flight autonomy and Rain mission autonomy to perform multiple autonomous water drops. For more reactions to the joint demonstration of autonomous aerial wildfire response:? ?? watch this video on YouTube https://lnkd.in/gwE7y3zS ?? read an update on our website? https://lnkd.in/gub5jeGB ?? “There’s definitely a space for autonomous aircraft and what Rain is doing.” —Assistant Chief Tim Perkins, Orange County Fire Authority. ??“We need technology like this to stop the fire that is coming from the wildlands, that is moving toward communities in fire prone lands.” —Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell, U.S. Fire Administration. ????????“This technology that we used to think of as being on the horizon, it’s here, it’s available, and it’s there for the taking. So we need to give our firefighters the best of what we’ve got.” —Genevieve Biggs, Director, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation Wildfire Resilience Initiative. We are indebted to the many people who carved time in their schedules to attend our demonstration, including Kate Dargan Marquis, Nancy Pfund, Jake Harris, Colonel Trent Mills, Ph.D, and many others.

Reduce Your Speed As You Proceed.” The NVFC stands with the U.S. Department of Transportation in raising awareness for CRSW. When you see responders on the road, remember to slow down and stay alert. These brave individuals risk their lives every day to protect us and keep traffic moving safely—let’s do our part to protect them. #CRSW #ResponderSafety #SlowDown
