Another month, another amazing meeting! Our monthly chapter meeting was a great chance to reconnect, share experiences, and plan for what’s ahead! Members reflected on past events, exchanged networking tips, and had some insightful (and fun) conversations with faculty. Experiencing Risk Management in Action! This past week,?USF Gamma Iota Sigma?students had the incredible opportunity to step into the world of client-facing risk management with?Shepherd Insurance! The day began at the?New Balance University Park Outlet, where students met the amazing?Dave Jackson?of?Fleet Feet Sports. They explored the importance of building strong relationships with local clients and discussed real-world risk management scenarios. A special thank you to Fleet Feet for the thoughtful gifts! Next, students visited?Neal Communities of Southwest Florida, Inc.?and?Lakewood Ranch, where?Jodi McConnell?and?Tony Chiofalo?provided valuable insights into the risks associated with Florida’s rapidly growing real estate market, along with the increasing costs of litigation in the industry. The day wrapped up with a great lunch at?THE GOOD LIQUID BREWING COMPANY, where students had the chance to connect with Shepherd Insurance employees and management—engaging in meaningful conversations about careers, industry trends, and more. The Florida Association of Insurance Agents gathered at University of South Florida for their annual Workforce Summit, bringing industry leaders together to discuss the future of talent in risk management and insurance. ? A highlight of the event was a panel featuring USF Gamma Iota Sigma students, who shared how GIS is shaping the next generation of RMI professionals. Evan Fueyo, Macy Daram, Dennis Iglesias, Eleana Hammond, and Warren Watkins provided personal insights—from leadership growth and development to unforgettable experiences in RMI international travel and experiential learning. ? Last week, USF Gamma Iota Sigma students launched the first Spotlight Speaker Series of the year with an engaging session on Third-Party Risk Management featuring the incredible Tiffany Bray, MBA, CTPRP of Seacoast Bank. Students gained valuable insights into the key components of TPRM, explored Tiffany’s unique career journey in risk management, and analyzed a real-world case study that highlighted the critical skills needed to excel in this field.
