Need a spark for using #AI in #UX research? Try it for moderation! Our early adopter’s guide is based on first-hand experience with this method. It includes: ~> The AI moderation process? ~> Ideal use cases for this tech ~> Best practices for success ~> A list of recommended tools (like HEARD by Elis , Outset, AskMore, Genway AI, Listen Labs, Strella, and Usercall AI) Plus, we’ve put together a downloadable toolkit of AI resources so you can deploy this tech throughout your workflows. A step-by-step ?? approach to using AI moderation in UX Research Step 1: Add project details Complete information like project goals, deadlines, and any information participants will need to best respond to the AI moderator’s questions and prompts. Step 2: Program the interview script Add the questions and prompts you want the AI to ask participants. Some platforms offer multiple interview scripts within the same study. Still others offer AI feedback based on the questions uploaded, with the option to select specific follow ups. Step 3: Organize your recruitment AI moderation methods are best with?human?participants. The benefits of this approach are realized with actual customers, not approximations or composites. Many AI moderation platforms include some screening capabilities, still others directly integrate with best-in-class participant recruitment platforms. Make sure to communicate participation expectations and information about consent and incentives (if applicable). Step 4: Field the interviews As participants sign up for and complete the interviews, you’ll begin seeing information populate in the tool’s results section. Some offer in-flight adjustments of the script, so it’s important to monitor the first few participants for confusion or unforeseen problems. Because interviews progress automatically, your time might be balanced between monitoring response quality and processing incentives for completed participants (assuming this workflow isn’t automated). Step 5: “Analysynthesize” the data AI moderation tools offer automatic transcription and analysis, producing high level themes with supporting interview sections. Because some of the pre-analysis work is handled by the AI, your time might shift between refining the initial analysis and starting to synthesize, aka “analysynthesis.” Depending on the tool used and your research needs, this step might include full interview exports, additional tagging, or downloading data visualizations. Step 6: Share and socialize findings Depending on your stakeholders, sharing the results might occur entirely outside the AI moderation platform (via decks, reports, etc.). Some platforms offer built-in querying of the data, allowing each project to become?a self-serve repository. Giving colleagues a view-only project link with instructions for querying the data might unlock more action. “Redefining the Research Toolkit” not only applies to methods, but tools, too. The marketplace for research platforms continues growing and evolving, offerings professionals the opportunity to find a nearly perfect research match. This means that more teams are opting to “unbundle” their research stack, choosing best-in-class options for critical phases instead of an all-in-one. Join User Interviews to learn... ?? Tools researchers are prioritizing for their stacks ?? Best-in-class stack in action (via a case study!) Secure your spot for tomorrow's 9:35am session to learn about the freedom of choice researchers have for their toolkits and some of the best-in-class options available. Thanks to User Interviews for being a #AR2025 sponsor! Advancing Research may require a ticket, but this session doesn't! How do you consider the best user research incentive? We dug into the data ?? from 20,000 moderated and unmoderated projects on User Interviews to find out. In our analysis, we found that incentives had a big impact on how many requested sessions were ultimately matched and completed—up to a point. There’s a threshold you need to provide to get people in the door, but after that, we’ve established a per-hour rate that makes it easy to find a good baseline incentive, which you can adjust to fit your needs. Take a deeper dive into our full analysis: https://lnkd.in/eEEze3Tu Note: Our recommendations are meant to be starting points for a larger conversation about which incentives reap the best results. There are factors that the data in this report won’t account for, such as: ?? How difficult your exact participants are to find ?? How meaningful cash or cash-like incentives are to them ?? How much time you’re asking them to commit overall ?? The nature of your study Whatever incentive type you offer, fairness is key! Participants are offering their time, their experience, and their thoughts, and that’s valuable stuff. If it wasn’t, why would we be doing research in the first place? *If you're still having trouble recruiting enough participants for studies, consider experimenting with different incentive options to find the one that resonates best with your audience.
