关于我们

At the US Department of Transportation, we occupy a unique leadership role in global transportation. Since our first official day of operation nearly 50 years ago, our transportation programs have evolved to meet the demands of a changing Nation. Today, DOT is composed of the Office of the Secretary, the Office of the Inspector General and 10 Operating Administrations. At the DOT, the safety of the people who travel is our top priority. We are building a better America by making the nation’s transportation system making it safer, more accessible, more reliable, and multi-modal. Together we will increase economic strength, improve climate and equity outcomes, and build global competitiveness for the American people. And we want to continue bringing talented minds into public service to help us in the process. The Department of Transportation (DOT) is ranked #3 in the 2020 best places to work in the Federal Government. We hope you’ll join us!

Today, FHWA announced $802 million in Emergency Relief funds to 36 states, Guam, and Puerto Rico. These funds will help make our infrastructure more resilient and better able to withstand damage from future catastrophic events caused by climate change. “The effects of climate change are dramatically impacting the lives of so many communities across our country,” said Acting Federal Highway Administrator Kristin White. “Since December 2021, FHWA has distributed nearly $4.2 billion in Emergency Relief funding, which helps states repair and recover from climate events and natural disasters. This federal funding is critical to ensure our nation’s roads, bridges, and tunnels remain safe and people can safely get where they need to be.” Read more in our press release: https://lnkd.in/evPdQdCW

Today, FHWA announced the immediate availability of $2 million in “quick release” Emergency Relief funds to support recovery efforts in Puerto Rico following the devastating impacts of Tropical Storm Ernesto. The funds will be used to reopen federally owned roads that were made impassable by heavy rains, strong winds, landslides, and flooding. “The Federal Highway Administration is working closely with the U.S. Forest Service to repair the damage caused by Tropical Storm Ernesto,” said Acting Federal Highway Administrator Kristin White. “Emergency relief funding helps communities swiftly receive federal funds to more quickly repair impacted areas and restore access.” U.S. Forest Service workers, along with teams from FHWA’s Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division, are already hard at work clearing downed trees, removing overhead hazards, and clearing debris from six roadways and five trails. This support will ensure vital access to these areas is restored as quickly as possible. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eY2wBVNu
