Today is World Food Day, when countries across the globe seek to raise awareness about world hunger. We are committed to ensuring people across the globe have access to sustainable agricultural practices and nutritious food. We are grateful for our partnerships with the McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program and the Food for Progress Program. Through these programs, we assist in ensuring school age children receive nutritional meals and promote agricultural systems to improve sustainability and international trade opportunities. Through these partnerships, we are working to improve food security across the globe.

USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) is a U.S. government foreign affairs agency dedicated to facilitating trade and international cooperation, which are critical to the vitality of the U.S. agricultural sector. The FAS team includes more than 150 Foreign Service officers posted around the globe. Applications to become part of FAS are opening soon. International Coffee Day is October 1 and FAS is brewing up excitement. Taiwan boasts a vibrant coffee culture and is home to one of the highest densities of coffee shops globally. Consumers are well-versed with single-origin specialty coffee and often prefer to buy, roast, grind, and brew their coffee at home. In July, FAS partnered with Taipei coffee shop chain, Zhanlu, to feature Hawaiian Kona coffee. Three Hawaiian coffee bean promotions were included in this multiplatform social media campaign to get everyone energized for specialty coffee. As a result of the promotion, Zhanlu coffee achieved $4,833 in actual sales and perked up interest in Taiwan on the origins of Hawaiian coffee.

This was a fantastic event, more than 100 attendees engaged in active discussions around the future of Bioplastics!

We are thrilled to announce the successful export and arrival of fresh California peaches and nectarines to Vietnam, marking a significant trade milestone for U.S. agriculture! ?? This achievement opens a $2.5 million market, thanks to the collaborative efforts of USDA, the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, the California Fresh Fruit Association, and Vietnam's Plant Protection Department. On August 14th we celebrated this success in Hanoi, recognizing the strong trade partnership between the U.S. and Vietnam. Our commitment at USDA-APHIS and USDA-FAS remains focused on facilitating safe and resilient trade, supporting U.S. producers, and providing global access to America’s top-quality and diverse agricultural products.
