Last Monday our CFO Sarah Grace Richardson organized a group of WIBC members to represent the University of South Carolina and the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business in the week-long McCombs National Women's Case Competition at the Texas McCombs School of Business! Sarina Patel, Anushka Sharma, Lauren Rowland, and Nell Jakubowski were the chosen members tasked with solving a real-world problem presented by Apple. Their week was spent learning from professionals and key speakers. While the other half of their time was focused on creating and cultivating a solution for Apple. We are so glad our members were able to experience such a rewarding and challenging competition! Not only have they gained hands-on experience with real-world problems but they also gained valuable knowledge. Congratulations to all four members for completing this competition! We are very proud of them and are excited for more opportunities to come their way! #CaseCompetition #WIBC #DarlaMoore #Womeninbusiness

The Spring 2025 Semester of WIBC has been very successful! So far we have had many events, from talented speakers to fun external events! For our first in-person Body Meeting we had many returning members and new faces. The topic of discussion was Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, and Espresso with Brittany Koester the owner of Azalea Coffee! Big thanks to our COO Ella Underwood for coordinating and leading the discussion! Also a special thanks to Brittany Koester who took the time out of her day to give great entrepreneurial tips and an inspiring backstory. In addition, our mentorship team made up of Paige Wilson and Jennifer Pantoni and our engagement team consisting of Elizabeth Spalthoff and Francesca Zobrist have had the honor of hosting many fun events. These events include Galentines, Vision Board Night, and a Snack & Support event. Most recently our CFO Sarah Grace Richardson has successfully sent members of WIBC to Austin Texas for a week-long case competition. We are excited to share their experience soon! Many thanks to all the speakers, the WIBC executive team, and all those who contribute to making WIBC a success! Very excited for more to come this semester! #WIBC #DarlaMoore #Spring2025 #Womeninbusiness

Last week, our incredible CFO Hadley Hedges hosted our annual Mocktail Hour at University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business. This social event brought our members together for a fun evening of networking, collaboration, and growth through trivia, refreshments, and an extraordinary guest speaker. Hadley's dedication to our organization has made events like these possible, and we are so grateful! Another special thanks to Sarah Grace Richardson, our current Director of Recruitment and Retention and incoming CFO for her assistance and commitment to ensuring our members having meaningful opportunities to connect. During the event, Christina Ahmadjian shared her invaluable insights and experiences as a woman working in Asia, detailing the challenges she faced while adapting to a new culture and professional environment. Her story highlighted not only the perseverance required to succeed in unfamiliar circumstances but also the unique perspective women bring to the global business landscape. Thank you for inspiring our members! As we wrap up this semester, we are already looking ahead to next year with excitement! We cannot wait to start planning more impactful events and fostering a community of empowerment. #MocktailHour #WIBC #DarlaMoore #Fall2024 #Networking

We extend our thanks to Anna Mills Cox from Amplified Communications for speaking to our members last night during our WIBternship meeting, one of our professional workshops for new members! Anna shared her invaluable insights on job interview success. Our members learned so much about pre-interview preparation, building confidence, and post-interview follow-up. Her expertise and practical advice will undoubtedly help our members.
Last night, I had the pleasure of speaking to USC Women in Business Council about "How to Succeed in Job Interviews." We covered a range of topics, including: Pre-interview prep: From researching the company to crafting your elevator pitch. Interviewing with confidence: Tips for making a strong first impression and answering tough questions. Post-interview follow-up: How to thank your interviewer and stay top of mind. It was a great experience sharing my insights with such a talented group of young women. #USC #WomenInBusiness #CareerAdvice #JobSearch #InterviewTips

Last night, we held our first in-person body meeting of the semester! Earlier this month, four of our amazing members, Sarah Grace Richardson, Eloise Woodall, Paige Wilson, and Anuska Sharma had the incredible opportunity to participate in the 2024 McCombs National Women's Case Competition hosted by The University of Texas at Austin sponsored by Apple. Over 25 teams participated and were challenged with redesigning Apple's packaging to create a solution to reach carbon neutrality by 2030 and to become plastic-free by 2025. Through extensive research and collaboration, our team created an approach that put an emphasis on sustainability and creative solutions. These ladies had the privilege of spending time with Apple on their campus, networking, hearing from other teams, and speaking with representatives who provided insightful tips on impactful speaking and entering the job market as a business major in technology. We are incredibly proud of our members and are so grateful for their representation of the USC Women in Business Council at University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business. Thank you to Texas McCombs School of Business for this valuable experience and Apple for your dedication to promoting a future of innovation with positive environmental impacts. #womeninbusiness #apple #sustainability #casecompetition
