This curated collection will be available for viewing on a virtual exhibition platform for a total of seven days, from October 7-14 . ** Exhibit Description: "From Coup to Resistance" presents a powerful visual narrative that chronicles Myanmar’s tumultuous journey since the military coup of 2021. This exhibition captures the profound transformation of a nation, beginning with peaceful protests that united citizens in their fight for democracy and evolving into a resilient movement of armed resistance as individuals, especially the youth, took up arms in pursuit of freedom. Through a collection of striking photographs, viewers will witness the vibrancy and determination of early demonstrations filled with hope, creativity, and solidarity. These images are poignantly contrasted with the harsh realities of conflict and the sacrifices made by those who continue to resist oppression. The event will take place in October with more details to follow. Keep a lookout on our page for upcoming updates regarding the exhibit! ~~ *Artist Statement*: Yan Naing Aung is a freelance photojournalist dedicated to documenting pivotal moments in Myanmar's history, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 General Election, and the ensuing political upheaval. His work has been featured in prestigious international news outlets such as The Washington Post, Nikkei Asia, Al Jazeera English, Channel 4, Anadolu Images, and De Volkskrant. Originally from Myanmar, Yan now resides in exile in Thailand, where he continues to capture the resilience and struggles of his homeland through his lens.
