This past year, I had the privilege of leading the AeroDesign Team at USC as Chief Engineer - a role that was grueling, but highly rewarding!
A few highlights from the year -
??Built 7 aircraft in under 7 months.
??Explored new manufacturing materials, techniques, and tooling.
??Improved team infrastructure: documentation, meetings, communication.
??Increased general member engagement. Distributed projects and ownership.
Some leadership principles I learned -
??Guide, not decide. Allow others to experience the design process.
??Operate in a high-trust environment. Remove localized dependency.
??Meetings are expensive. Be intentional with time.
??Maintain transparency. Share goals and direction. Seek feedback.
After dedicating 3 years to this team, I am extremely grateful to the people I have met and the experiences I had along the way. Thank you to my teammates for trusting me. Thank you to my mentors for the guidance and support. I owe my growth as an engineer and leader to you all!
Below are some pictures from the AIAA Design-Build-Fly competition, where we won Best Design Report out of 107 teams and the Stan Powell Memorial Award! The USC Viterbi School of Engineering also awarded us Design Team Of The Year soon after! Flight on! ???????
