Last week, NeurotechUSC commemorated ?????????? ???????????? ?????? with a deep dive into stroke care and research, featuring insights from four remarkable collaborators: ?? Luke Sparks, President of USC’s Emergency Medicine Club, highlighted the vital signs of stroke — sudden numbness, weakness, confusion, or dizziness — and emphasized the ????????-???????????? ?????????????? bystanders can take in those crucial moments. ?? Dr. Simon Mahler, postdoctoral scholar at Caltech, introduced ???????????????????? ???????? ?????????? ???????????????????? for assessing stroke risk. His findings on cerebral blood flow and volume provided a new perspective on the nuances of stroke detection. ?? Dr. Jonathan Russin, director of Cerebrovascular Surgery at Keck Hospital, delivered powerful insights on ?????????????????????? ??????????????, explaining the mechanisms of vessel rupture and its impacts on the brain. ?? Dr. Tatsuhiro Fujii, director of Cerebrovascular Surgery at Keck Hospital, shared his expertise on ???????????????? ??????????????. He walked us through the pathways a stroke team may take based on stroke severity and illustrated the effects on both mind and body. Thank you to all who attended and to our guest speakers for their expertise and dedication! And a special shoutout to Luke Sparks and Erica Schug, President of NeurotechUSC, for organizing this special event! Stay tuned for more special events at NeurotechUSC. #StrokeAwareness #NeurotechUSC #StrokeCare #Neuroscience

We are thrilled to reflect on a successful year for NeurotechUSC! This past 2023-2024 school year marked the first full year of USC’s pioneering computational neuroscience society and neurotech club, established in Spring 2023. Our organization has grown immensely, and we are excited to highlight some of our favorite events and milestones: Guest Speakers: We hosted a series of incredible speakers from the Neurotechnology field, including Sharena Rice, PhD, AJ Keller, Landan Mintch, Ramses Alcaide, Chloe Duckworth, Shannon Brownlee, Chinmayi Balusu, MPH and Alex Ballatori, who shared their insightful experiences with our members! Hands-On Workshops: We organized 2 sheep brain dissections, allowing club members to apply their knowledge and explore the anatomy of a mammalian brain! We also collaborated with USC IEE in to host an EMG and Arduino workshop! Summits: We had the honor of representing NeurotechUSC at the prestigious BrainMind Summit in San Francisco, where we connected with pioneers in the field and learned more about their impacts and innovations. 2024 California Neurotechnology Conference: Co-hosting the 2024 California Neurotechnology Conference was a major highlight! We were also proud to have 3 groups present their independent research projects, showcasing the talent and dedication of our members. We are excited to announce that NeurotechUSC is evolving and entering a new phase of growth. Our journey has been driven by the enthusiasm and dedication of all our members! We look forward to another year of innovation, collaboration, and growth in the field of neurotechnology. Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way!

?? Celebrating the Success of #CNTC2024 ?? We are thrilled to share the success of the Second Annual California Neurotechnology Conference (#CNTC2024), which convened over 300 attendees across four continents both at UC Davis and via live stream on April 28th, 2024! ?? This year’s conference, themed "The Neurotech Ecosystem: Uniting Visionaries, Innovators, and Creators," provided an exciting opportunity to delve into the latest updates in the field of neurotechnology alongside researchers, students, and industry leaders from across 4 continents! ???? Throughout the conference, we witnessed the convergence of brilliant minds from industry, academia, and beyond, fostering learning, networking, and the birth of new ideas through speaker events, panel discussions, and poster presentations. ???? None of this would have been possible without the generous support of our six sponsors: Brain Research Institute at UCLA, care.ai, UC Davis Center for Neuroengineering and Medicine, mbt I mBrainTrain, Queens University Neurotech Microcredentials Program, and Training in Neurotechnology Translation at UCLA. We extend our deepest gratitude for their invaluable partnership! ?? A special shout-out goes to our esteemed speakers: Dr. David Eagleman and Nathan Copeland! Industry panelists: Dr. Sharena Rice, PhD, Caitlin Ner, Dr. Julia Scott, Chloe Duckworth, and Gail Christine Gannon! Academic panelists: Dr. Sergey Stavisky, Dr. Virginia De sa, Dr. Karen Moxon, Dr. Lee M. Miller, Dr. Jonathon Schofield, and Dr. José Mu?oz! ???? Heartfelt thanks also to the organizational committee members from Neurotech@Davis, CruX UCLA, Neurotech@Berkeley, Triton NeuroTech at UCSD, NeurotechUSC, and NeuroTechSC for their dedication and hard work in making this event a resounding success! ?? We eagerly anticipate reconnecting with you all at the California Neurotechnology Conference 2025 next year! ?? #CaliforniaNeurotechConference #CNTC2024 #Neurotechnology #Conference #Neuroengineering #Neuroscience #Technology #Engineering

Over the weekend, I had the privilege of attending the California Neurotechnology Conference! This exceptional event was a collaboration among six undergraduate neurotechnology clubs: Neurotech@Davis, CruX UCLA, Neurotech@Berkeley, Triton NeuroTech at UCSD, NeuroTechSC, and, proudly, our very own NeurotechUSC joined the team this year! I was thrilled to represent NeurotechUSC as part of the planning committee, alongside my two incredible colleagues, Audrey Chang and Carol Alata. We had the pleasure of working with other dedicated members of the student planning committee including Nikhita Toleti, Steven Veld, Simran Lallian, Jaya Athuluru, Emily Moberly, Nivriti Bopparaju and many others. Throughout the conference, I had the honor of listening to esteemed speakers from both industry and academia, including two captivating keynote addresses. Reconnecting with familiar faces like Chloe Duckworth and Sharena Rice, PhD was a highlight, and gaining fresh perspectives from leaders such as David Eagleman and Nathan Copeland was extremely inspiring. Another standout moment from the conference was presenting our research project, "Neuroimaging and Biosignal Informed Framework for More Effective Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD)," alongside my talented colleagues Kaeo Wongbusarakum, Josephine Crosthwait, and Andrés Quintanar. The opportunity to share our work and learn from other students' research projects during the poster session was immensely valuable and adds to my continued interest and passion for neurotechnology! I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the rapidly growing field of neurotechnology, especially as a student during this pivotal time. The potential for innovation and impact is immense, and I am eager to see where the future of neurotechnology will take us!

This past weekend I attended the California Neurotech Conference with NeurotechUSC. It was inspiring to hear from impressive pioneers in the field such as David Eagleman and Nathan Copeland, as well as an all-female panel of industry professionals! My group was excited to present the research we have been working on, which we titled "Evaluating Resting-State fMRI for Autism Spectrum Disorder Classification Using Dynamic Functional Connectivity Long Short-Term Memory Networks." This was a very educational weekend and I look forward to more opportunities like this in the future.
