On this solemn day, #USArmyHRC reflects on the profound impact of the events that unfolded 23 years ago as we remember and pay tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11. Ltc. Marjana Bidwell, Military Intelligence Lieutenant Colonel Career Manager, #USArmyHRC, was a senior in high school on 9/11. She lost a family member that day when the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center and her dad was one of the first responders. The events of that day inspired Bidwell to join the #USArmy and serve her country. Let us honor the memories of all who were lost and remember the courage and resilience that emerged in the aftermath. #NeverForget #HonorThem #PATRIOTDAY #September11 #Remembering911 US Army U.S. Army Reserve Army National Guard United States Department of Defense

On this solemn day, #USArmyHRC reflects on the profound impact of the events that unfolded 23 years ago as we remember and pay tribute to those who lost their lives on 9/11. George Piccirilli, Division Chief Evaluations Selection Promotion Division, was working in the Hoffman Bldg., Alexandria, VA, in the evaluations branch on 9/11. After learning that a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center buildings, his initial reaction was that it was an aviation accident. But after the second and third planes hit the second tower and the Pentagon, Piccirilli knew “That it was deliberate, that we were under attack.” Piccirilli had worked with Maj. Kip Taylor a few years earlier when the Soldier was a board recorder. Taylor had since been promoted to military assistant to Lt. Gen. Timothy Maude, Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, #USArmy. Both were killed at the Pentagon.

Theresa Mcguire, Chief of Operations Support Division, TAGD, could see smoke rising from the Pentagon from her office window in the Hoffman Bldg., Alexandria, VA, where she had worked as the Chief of the Officer Records Branch. She was deeply saddened to learn that a former boss, who was on leave that day, lost his life after deciding to go into the Pentagon for a couple of hours to catch up on some work. McGuire recalls the feelings of shock, sadness and despair.

Maj. Gen. Hope Rampy, HRC Commanding General, recalls her time as a captain and instructor at the AG school at Fort Jackson, S.C. on that fateful day. She had the privilege of meeting Lt. Gen. Timothy J. Maude, the highest-ranking victim of the September 11 attacks, during one of his visits to the school. Maj. Gen. Rampy also remembers Maj. Kip Taylor, who served as Gen. Maude's military assistant and was also lost in the tragedy. Lt. Gen. Maude, who was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, is honored as the namesake of the United States Army Human Resources Command Lieutenant General Timothy J. Maude Complex. Reflecting on that day, Rampy shared, “I have been a part of Maude’s legacy. He always started every speech with ‘I am a Soldier.’” As she heard the news of the first plane hitting the North Tower, she sensed that everything was about to change. Let us honor the memories of all who were lost and remember the courage and resilience that emerged in the aftermath. #NeverForget #HonorThem #PATRIOTDAY #September11 #Remembering911 US Army U.S. Army Reserve Army National Guard United States Department of Defense

#USArmyHRC’s Force Shaping Directorate kicked off its annual distribution conference, where they are meeting with unit account managers to discuss what officer assignments will be filled during the summer 2025 marketplace. FSD expects to fill about 10,000 positions, but exactly how many and what jobs will be filled will be determined based on the active component manning guidance and Army senior leader directed priorities. The marketplace opens Sept. 25, closing Nov. 12, giving officers and units the opportunity to interview and preference one another for future assignments. #ArmyCareer #SoldiersFirst #ArmyReadiness #BAYCB US Army U.S. Army Reserve Army National Guard
