The U.S. Army Center for Initial Military Training (USACIMT) is the core function lead for U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command for all initial entry training. USACIMT leads the synchronization and management of initial military training and education to transform civilian volunteers into Soldiers who are disciplined, fit, combat ready, and who increase Army readiness at first units of assignment. USACIMT is the Army proponent for the Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) System. H2F is an enterprise-wide readiness initiative that combines all aspects of physical and non-physical human performance optimization under a single governance structure to enable commanders to improve Soldier health and fitness.

As the US Army has been piloting programs to modernize Soldiers fueling, Chef Robert Irvine has been advising and assisting on ways to transform the Army's approach to Soldier feeding patterns. Irvine compared Soldiers and their diet to a new Mercedes sports car with a quarter tank of fuel: it won't go far. If it's not the lack of food, the bad quality is comparable to putting diesel in a gas-powered car. Through the Holistic Health and Fitness system, #H2F, the Army is changing the way it looks at the human weapon system and how they'reit prepares for the rigors of ground combat. As the #H2F embedded performance teams are rolled out to the Total Army, without the proper fueling, leaders will not see the maximum results. Holistic Health and Fitness, #H2F, Teams across the US Army are leaning forward and implementing ways to support units not collocated with their Brigade embedded teams. For decades, mobile applications have been used in professional sports to extend the reach of subject matter experts to their athletes. These applications enable SMEs to support our warfighters continuously in and out of the garrison. Check out how the 44th Medical Brigade initially leaned forward to provide their warfighters with a virtual option for their geo-dispersed units. U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM)

“We cannot afford not to do this, because what it is giving back to the US Army in terms of soldier lethality, readiness it is paying for itself,” said Gen. James Mingus, Vice Chief of Staff of the Army. By 2027, the program, which puts teams of nutritionists, physical therapists, strength and conditioning coaches and other experts with units, will expand to 111 brigades and to the entire Army beyond that, including the U.S. Army Reserve and Army National Guard. As the US Army transforms the way tactical athletes are fueled, units are leaning forward and creating partnerships with their #H2F Human Performance Teams and Warrior Restaurants to create nutritious grab-and-go meals. 7th Infantry Division scaled their Athlete Meal Prep Program (AMPP) across the entire Division to ensure Soldiers always had access to these meals. The Holistic Health and Fitness, or #H2F, System represents cultural change. Cultural change is hard. Trust is unquestionably required. Building trust in the H2F team and the H2F system is not the sole responsibility of H2F leaders, but is the responsibility of every individual on the H2F team. As the US Army embraces the H2F culture shift, how does this complex team build trust internally and externally among the leaders and soldiers it serves? Read more from Brian Hatler and Lt Col. Szymanek in Association of the United States Army - AUSA magazine at: https://lnkd.in/gtzcpRwC

"You've got to be able to get to the fight, you've got to be able to win the fight, and you've got to be able to get home from the fight. And that's what Holistic Health and Fitness, or #H2F, is about", said Gen. James Mingus, Vice Chief of Staff of the US Army at the 2024 Association of the United States Army - AUSA National Convention. Originally planned for 111 Active Duty Brigades, the embedded human performance teams are now being planned to resource the Total Army. "We can't afford to not do it because it's going to make our Soldiers better than they are today", said Mingus.
