U.S. Special Advisor for International Disability Rights Sara Minkara held a townhall on advancing disability rights across our foreign policy. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma highlighted the importance of disability inclusion for the U.S. Department of State and how we all benefit from their talents, their expertise, and their leadership. Ambassador Matt Murray was also invited to speak on how Special Advisor Minkara's efforts during our 2023 host year have been implemented into conversations in Peru's 2024 APEC host year. Ambassador Matt Murray spoke to the United States Council for International Business (USCIB) and its members about Peru's APEC 2024 Leaders' Week and the upcoming Republic of Korea 2025 host year. This was an important opportunity to hear from our stakeholders about what is important to them as we head toward Leaders’. Ambassador Murray shared highlights and expected outcomes from Peru’s 2024 APEC host year and the ROK’s 2025 host year, including themes around the digital economy, sustainability, and the clean energy transition.? Additionally, Ambassador Murray shared the importance of public-private dialogue and stakeholder engagement during the U.S. and Peruvian host year, and encouraged the ROK and future hosts on this important element. Bringing the private sector to the table and incorporating their creative solutions and innovative ideas is just one of the many ways APEC is a successful forum. Ambassador Murray met with AmCham Indonesia and US-ASEAN Business Council to discuss the importance of public and private sector collaboration for high-quality infrastructure and clean energy, as well as on the digital economy, health policy, and women’s economic empowerment.? Ambassador Murray also updated private sector stakeholders on APEC’s recent work on food security and enhancing human capital.?? ? Additionally, Ambassador Murray met his fellow APEC Senior Official Ambassador Jailani?to discuss how the United States and Indonesia can work closely toward successful outcomes during the November APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Lima.? They also discussed ways our two sides can advance work during the ROK 2025 APEC host year, building on the continued successes of the United States and Peru host years. ? ?
