Underground Service Alert provides a free and effective Damage Prevention Service that protects the communities and underground facilities in Central / Northern California, and Nevada. Underground Service Alert (USA) began operation in May of 1975 & incorporated as a 501 (c)(6) Non Profit Mutual Benefit Corporation in 1986. Our objective is to receive planned excavation reports from public or private excavators and to transmit those planned excavation reports to all participating utility members of Underground Service Alert who may have facilities in and around that excavation site. Our members will either: 1) mark or stake the horizontal path of their facility, 2) provide information about the location of their facility, or 3) advise the excavator of clearance, for facilities that they own. Both California and Nevada One-Call Laws do not allow Federal or State Holidays to be included as part of the legal notice for the excavation notification.   • 811 at the World Ag Expo ?? This week, 811 had the incredible opportunity to be part of the World Ag Expo in Tulare, California — the largest agricultural trade show in the world. With over 1,200 exhibitors and thousands of attendees, this event is a powerhouse for innovation, education, and collaboration in the farming industry. A huge thank you to our dedicated 811 team who braved the crowds and rain to educate farmers, ranchers, and homeowners about the importance of calling 811 before digging. Their hard work, despite the weather, ensured that the safe digging message reached those who need it most. We also secured TV news interviews to amplify our presence and spread awareness beyond the expo! We were proud to work alongside Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Southern California Edison (SCE), SoCalGas and the California Farm Bureau promoting all of our services and helping attendees understand how 811 supports the agriculture industry. During the segment,?James Wingate and Sarah Magruder Lyle?took the lead in educating viewers, breaking down how the 811 process works and why it’s crucial for preventing utility damage.
