The USAID MTaPS Program is proud to have supported the development of four e-learning courses for building capacity within the Government of Bangladesh (#GOB). The courses aim to improve capacity of key personnel in the Communicable Disease Control (#CDC) Program Research and Planning Unit, the Central Medical Stores Depot (#CMSD), the National Tuberculosis Program (#NTP), and the Directorate General of Family Planning (#DGFP). The courses cover: ?? Effective use of e-TB Manager ?? Basic #logistics management ?? #Procurement basics ?? Infection prevention and control (#IPC) practices Representatives from each of the targeted GOB offices participated in an orientation session on the e-learning courses at the MTaPS Bangladesh office before officially taking ownership of the courses. Currently available on the government’s e-learning platform, #Muktopaath, these courses are reaching a wide audience.? As of January 12th, 2025, a total of 9,707 users have enrolled in these courses, with 2,958 earning certificates for completion. Through this impactful work, MTaPS is equipping healthcare professionals and pharmaceutical service providers in #Bangladesh and highlighting the importance of enhancing pharmaceutical services to improve access to quality healthcare. #elearning #BetterHealth #DGHS #USAID #MSH Quazi Shahreen Haq Farhana Akter Elizabeth Weinstein, MPH Gustavo Bastos, MD, MSc

Access to and appropriate use of safe, effective, quality-assured, and affordable medicines and pharmaceutical services.
关于我们
Funded by USAID and implemented by a team led by MSH, the purpose of the five-year MTaPS program (2018–2023) is to provide pharmaceutical system strengthening (PSS) assistance for sustained improvements in health system performance and to advance USAID’s goals of preventing child and maternal deaths, controlling the HIV/AIDS epidemic, combating infectious disease threats, and expanding essential health coverage. The goal of the MTaPS program is to help low and middle-income countries (LMICs) strengthen their pharmaceutical systems to ensure sustainable access to and appropriate use of safe, effective, quality-assured, and affordable essential medicines, vaccines, and other health technologies and pharmaceutical services. MTaPS’ objectives: 1. Strengthen pharmaceutical-sector governance 2. Increase institutional and human resource capacity for pharmaceutical management and services, including regulation of medical products 3. Advance availability and use of pharmaceutical information for decision-making and the global learning agenda 4. Optimize pharmaceutical-sector financing, including resource allocation and use 5. Improve pharmaceutical services, including product availability and patient-centered care, to achieve desired health outcomes MTaPS’ Approach The program’s theory of change is based on USAID’s vision for PSS, which posits six functions of health systems that must be strengthened to achieve sustained and equitable access to essential, high-quality services: human resources, health finance, health governance, health information, medical products/vaccines/technologies, and service delivery. The #USAID Medicines, Technologies, and Pharmaceutical Services (MTaPS) Program is proud to have partnered with Jordan's Ministry of Health (MOH) to assess infection prevention and control (#IPC) practices in >600 public and private dental clinics nationwide. By tailoring the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (#CDC) IPC assessment tool to Jordan’s specific needs, MTaPS brought critical, real-time knowledge of IPC practices to Jordan's key public health decision makers. The findings from this assessment are being used to enhance infection control standards in dental clinics and primary health care (#PHC) facilities across Jordan. These insights are directly informing the development of the National Infection Prevention and Control Policies and Procedures Manual for PHC facilities, a vital step in combating antimicrobial resistance (#AMR) and ensuring patient safety. As we embark on 2025, USAID's MTaPS Program reflects on its role as a trusted partner in building the foundation for success in global health. Through its regulatory systems strengthening work, the #USAID Medicines, Technologies, and Pharmaceutical Services (MTaPS) Program has been supporting supply chain security and reducing the prevalence of substandard and falsified (#SF) medical products. By improving pre- and post-registration activities and strengthening #reliance and #harmonization efforts across the world, MTaPS is protecting patient safety, improving treatment outcomes, and combatting drug resistance. MTaPS is proud to have achieved the following milestones: ?? Streamlined product registration in #Rwanda ?? Built capacity for regulatory inspection in #Bangladesh ?? Established clinical trials oversight mechanisms in #Nepal ?? Enabled market surveillance of medicines in #Mozambique ?? Strengthened pharmacovigilance (#PV) systems worldwide Coupled with MTaPS' regional reliance and harmonization initiatives across #Africa and #Asia, driving greater efficiency and effectiveness of national regulatory authorities (#NRAs), MTaPS is paving the way for more robust regulatory systems. Since 2022, the USAID Medicines, Technologies, and Pharmaceutical Services (MTaPS) Program has supported the Jordanian Ministry of Health (MOH) in implementing interventions to combat antimicrobial resistance (#AMR), in alignment with Jordan's National Action Plan on AMR. In 2023, MTaPS began supporting the MOH to develop protocols for surgical prophylaxis and urinary tract infection treatments. Institutionalization of and adherence to these protocols, thereby improving antimicrobial stewardship (#AMS) practices, is key for combatting AMR. After piloting these protocols in two hospitals, MTaPS: ?? Expanded protocol adoption to 28 additional #hospitals ?? Facilitated #knowledgeexchange of lessons learned from pilot phase ???? Trained 118 AMS committee members on #implementation of protocols ?? Distributed behavior change communication materials on protocols Through these activities, MTaPS is ensuring improved antimicrobial stewardship practices in hospitals across #Jordan, combatting the spread of AMR. All Family Planning Inventories in Bangladesh Now Online MTaPS is proud to support the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) in Bangladesh as it transitions its sub-district-level Upazila Inventory Management System (UIMS) to the DGFP eLMIS. This online system enables users to access real-time stock data, issue vouchers, and create, complete, and print supply plans—all through unique credentials. To aid this transition, MTaPS facilitated six training sessions in the Chattogram division, engaging participants from six upazilas: Bandarban, Khagrachari, Rangamati, Cumilla, Brahmanbaria, and Chattogram. On the final day, DGFP senior officials, including the Director of Logistics and Supply Marzia Haque, observed the sessions. The Director appreciated MTaPS’ efforts to deliver effective technical training through both online and in-person methods. This digital transformation represents a significant step toward strengthening health supply chain management in Bangladesh. Congratulations to DGFP and all involved!
