On Tuesday, April 16th, USAHA hosted an enlightening panel discussion titled "Climate Mitigation & Adaptation in the Hospital Sector & Manufacturing of MedTech/Pharm," in collaboration with Mount Sinai Grand Rounds as part of the World Bank's Annual Health Financing Forum. The session delved deep into the critical challenges that climate change poses to healthcare infrastructure, especially in developing nations, while also exploring avenues for resilience-building. Alongside our esteemed panelists, we were honored to have Dr. Nils Hennig, Director of the Master of Public Health Program and Associate Director of the Mount Sinai Global Health Center, co-hosting the event alongside USAHA. Moderated by USAHA Advisory Board member Dr. Alexander S. Preker, Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University and former Chief Economist of Health at the World Bank, the panelists engaged in insightful conversations on the impacts of climate change on health systems and strategies to tackle the climate-health nexus. Last week, USAHA had the privilege of hosting our Winter 2024 USAHA Advisory Board meeting at Medtronic’s Washington DC office. We were honored to welcome Jim Golsen, Deputy Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service at the International Trade Administration (ITA), the primary commercial diplomacy, export, and investment promotion agency of the U.S. government. With his vast expertise, Mr. Golsen oversees a dedicated team of over 1,450 trade professionals spanning across more than 225 domestic and overseas trade offices. His insights and guidance are invaluable as we navigate through the complexities of international trade and investment. This visit further strengthens our long-standing strategic relationship with the Department of Commerce, highlighting our shared commitment to expanding health infrastructure opportunities for U.S. companies abroad.
