关于我们
USAging is the national association representing and supporting the network of Area Agencies on Aging and advocating for the Title VI Native American Aging Programs. Our members help older adults and people with disabilities throughout the United States live with optimal health, well-being, independence and dignity in their homes and communities and support their caregivers. USAging and our members work to improve the quality of life and health of older adults and people with disabilities, including supporting people with chronic illness, people living with dementia, family caregivers and others who want to age well at home and in the community. Together, we are ensuring that all people can age well. Our members are the local leaders that develop, coordinate and deliver a wide range of home and community-based services to support people to age well, including information and referral/assistance, case management, home-delivered and congregate meals, in-home services, caregiver supports, transportation, evidence-based health and wellness programs, long-term care ombudsman programs and more. USAging is dedicated to supporting the success of our members through advancing public policy, sparking innovation, strengthening the capacity of its members, raising their visibility and working to drive excellence in the fields of aging and home and community-based services.

“For older adults without access to a car or for those whose physical ability to safely drive has declined, having alternative transportation options is incredibly important,” said USAging CEO Sandy Markwood. “Transportation mobility enables independence, promotes good health, decreases social isolation and improves quality of life. These grants will not only help to serve the needs of the grantees’ communities but will create plans that could be replicable in other rural communities as well.”
Exciting news! NADTC has awarded $412,448 in grants to support 12 rural communities as they develop transportation plans that prioritize accessibility and equity for older adults and people with disabilities. Through these grants, each community will work on identifying local transportation barriers and designing solutions that enhance mobility and independence for those in underserved areas. Together, we’re building a more inclusive future for rural communities across the U.S. Learn more at https://ow.ly/1JzK50TZNZH.

Join us on November 21st at 3 PM ET for a webinar to explore strategies to help you reach and support more kinship/grandfamilies. We at the Network often hear from programs serving kinship families who want to reach more kin caregivers in their community. Likewise, kin caregivers tell us that they were unaware of available services when they began their caregiving journey. In response, we recently hosted a Learning Community for kinship programs seeking to improve their outreach strategies. Kathy Kinsner with our partner organization ZERO TO THREE and Deborah Mathis with our partner National Caucus and Center on Black Aging, Inc. will share strategies from the Community. Explore how to connect with more kinship/grandfamilies by building trust with the caregivers, partnering with schools, identifying local champions, and developing a social media presence.
