关于我们
Welcome to the South Pacific Division's official LinkedIn page! FOR CURRENT POSITIONS WITHIN ANY OF SOUTH PACIFIC DIVISION'S DISTRICTS, PLEASE GO TO WWW.USAJOBS.GOV. Established in 1888, the South Pacific Division is one of the Corps' nine regions nationwide. Four operating Districts, headquartered in Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco and Albuquerque, provide federal and military engineering support in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and in parts of Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming and Texas. The civil works program is oriented around major regional watersheds and leverages federal resources for navigation, flood damage reduction and ecosystem restoration. Major river basins include the Sacramento, San Joaquin, Santa Ana, Colorado and Rio Grande, which are governed by complex water rights. Water resources are vital to agriculture, urban development, natural ecosystems, Tribal interests, and recreation. There are more than 300 threatened and endangered species in the region. We issue regulatory permits under the Clean Water Act for development in the nation's waters and wetlands, balancing environmental stewardship with the need for economic and urban growth. The Corps works in partnership with other federal agencies, state governments and local communities on collaborative solutions to these complex water resource issues. LOWER COLMA CREEK PPA SIGNING! Leaders from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers San Francisco District and the cities of South San Francisco and San Bruno (non-federal sponsors) signed a milestone project partnership agreement this week paving the way for construction of a coastal storm risk management project along Lower Colma Creek. The project consists of the design and construction of flood walls at the South San Francisco-San Bruno Water Quality Control Plant, as well as at Pump Station 4, which services an area with over 165,000 residents, plus the daily population of San Francisco International Airport. The project will protect residents, businesses and the environment from the detrimental effects of flood waters impacting these critical wastewater conveyance and treatment systems. USACE San Francisco District Commander Lt. Col. Timothy Shebesta and City of South San Francisco City Manager Sharon Ranals signed the agreement Tuesday during an afternoon ceremony at the South San Francisco Library.

Maj. Gen. Jason Kelly, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers deputy commanding general for Civil and Emergency Operations, joined fellow USACE leaders and subject-matter experts from both the Los Angeles and Tulsa District, as well as the South South Pacific Division and Southwestern Division, March 4 during tours of two major sites in the Los Angeles District’s area of operations — Whittier Narrows Dam in Montebello, California, and Prado Dam in Corona, California — while receiving the latest updates on project developments at both locations. Both projects are intended to increase the dams' capacity to more safely handle extreme storms. The USACE team made the best of their time to strengthen Kelly’s understanding of the projects and the resources they need to deliver it. “It is very clear these are two important projects for Los Angeles, USACE and the people that we serve … it’s clear to me that we’ve got the right team to deliver,” Kelly said. “I’m impressed, and I look forward to coming back seeing the construction and seeing us deliver for the people.” Learn more about the project by visiting https://lnkd.in/gZGEfDPR.
