What is Stargardt Disease? Stargardt disease is an inherited macular dystrophy that affects central vision due to the progressive degeneration of the macula, the part of the retina responsible for detailed vision. It typically appears in childhood or adolescence, leading to loss of visual acuity, difficulty reading, and trouble seeing clearly in low-light conditions. Taking care of our visual health is essential. Regular eye exams help detect not only Stargardt disease but also other ocular conditions early. Prevention and early diagnosis can make a significant difference in preserving vision.?
