Saddling up for high-speed rail in Horseheads, New York. ???? The dream of high-speed rail gets closer to reality in the USA with today’s announcement of our $60 million investment for a new production facility for the American Pioneer 220 trainset. With speeds of 220mph (354kph), 10 trains will connect Los Angeles to Las Vegas in around two hours and herald the start of a new (and long-awaited) industry in the USA – high-speed rail travel. Passengers can expect accessible trains with the latest technology, comfort, and trainsets that emit zero emissions. And, as Las Vegas is involved, why not enjoy the special party carriage on the journey as well! ?? From an engineering perspective, you will see a groundbreaking new gearless propulsion system that reduces energy consumption by 30% and allows steep grades to be climbed easily. Horseheads will become our third train manufacturing facility in North America, joining Sacramento and Lexington. We are at the start of a rail revolution in the USA with our customer Brightline West Trains accelerating the change – and Siemens Mobility is fully on board! ?? Initiating a high-speed rail project in America is not for the faint-hearted! To help groups that want to begin this challenging process, US High Speed Rail has created this guide for advocates. The roadmap we developed was driven largely by the efforts of lead author Bernard Cohen, of ACI in Boston, who drew on the broad experience of our Coalition members and many others. USHSR also wants to thank the IAM (Machinists Union) Communications Dept. for designing and producing the booklet and all the graphics that make the guide very easy to follow. We encourage readers to share this straightforward advocacy guide within their networks and beyond. Our Coalition members are some of our best ambassadors! #BuildHSR https://lnkd.in/gsJGVtjq
