Last week, U.S. Economic Development Administration official Eric Smith visited Minnesota and connected directly with?more than 100 partners in Minnesota MedTech 3.0, our region's federally designated Tech Hub. Eric toured medical manufacturing facilities, met with business leaders and government officials, saw demos of smart medtech ventures being brought to market, dove into Minnesota's talent strategy, and caught several notable sites along the way. EDA aims for this year's initial set of Tech Hubs awards to be the beginning of?a deeper partnership with regions like ours that will include future federal funding opportunities, national summits with major capital providers, international trade opportunities and more. We're excited to be receiving an EDA grant to hire a full-time Managing Director of Minnesota MedTech 3.0 who can help our large and growing coalition implement a complex strategy including capitalizing on these federal opportunities. As the interim leader of the effort, it's been a privilege to partner with many of the world's top health and medical experts, but?my entire family is grateful for a chance to soon pass the baton to someone awesome who can make this their full-time focus. In Philadelphia this week, EDA Tech Hubs Program director Eric Smith told Technical.ly he thinks the Philadelphia PROPEL Tech Hub consortium is on the right path to score future grant awards. The National Hurricane Center reports that Hurricane Milton is rapidly intensifying over the Gulf of Mexico as it approaches the west coast of Florida. It will be a major hurricane capable of producing life-threatening storm surges and damaging winds. Storm surge and hurricane warnings are now in effect for portions of the Florida coast, and residents should follow local officials’ advice and evacuate if told to do so. https://lnkd.in/e5fHkzp4
