?? Big Week for Circularity on Capitol Hill! ?? The US Circular Economy Coalition (CEC) just wrapped up a successful fly-in, meeting with both House and Senate offices to drive home a critical message: America needs a unified approach to circularity—one that prioritizes domestic resources, cuts costs for businesses, and ensures base-load energy recovery. A huge thank you to our board members who flew in to advocate for strong, unified circularity principles: ?? Michael Van Brunt – Reworld Waste ?? Jerae Carlson – Cemex ?? Jennifer Kane – Trane Technologies We made it clear that circularity isn't just about sustainability—it’s about strengthening American industry, securing supply chains, and driving economic growth. By aligning policies across the federal government, Congress can unlock massive opportunities for manufacturing, energy, and waste-to-value solutions that keep our economy competitive. Our coalition is leading the charge by educating lawmakers, advocating for smart policies, and showcasing how our members are already making circularity work—right here at home. ?? EU Weakens Green Rules—What This Means for the U.S. ?? The European Union is rolling back key sustainability regulations to keep its industries competitive against the U.S. and China. With the EU easing its Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and its Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), Europe is recognizing what we’ve known all along: Circularity can be fueled by the private sector to achieve sustainability goals. ???? Why This Matters for America: ?? Economic Edge: The U.S. has been leading in clean tech investments and manufacturing expansion. If the EU scales back, it creates an opportunity for American businesses to dominate the global sustainability market without excessive red tape. ?? Energy Independence: The EU’s struggle with high energy costs highlights why the U.S. must double down on energy security and domestic resource development to stay ahead. ?? Fair Trade: If Europe weakens its environmental regulations while still imposing carbon border taxes, U.S. companies could face unfair trade barriers. We need strong American policies to ensure a level playing field. This is a moment for the U.S. to lead on innovation, sustainability, and economic growth—on our own terms.
