Women’s History Month Feature: Camille Stewart Gloster, Esq, CEO of CAS Strategies, LLC/Former Deputy National Cyber Director, The White House Camille Stewart Gloster is a strategist, attorney, and executive whose crosscutting perspective on complex technology, cyber, and national security, and foreign policy issues has landed her in significant roles at leading government and private sector companies including the White House, Department of Homeland Security, Google, and Deloitte. Camille builds global cybersecurity, privacy, and emerging technology (e.g., A.I.) and election security/integrity programs in complex environments for large companies and government agencies. As the first Deputy National Cyber Director for Technology & Ecosystem for the White House, Camille advised the President and led national efforts on technology security, supply chain security, data security, emerging technology, and cyber workforce and education. She led the development and implementation of the 2023 National Cyber Workforce and Education Strategy, and played an integral part in the drafting and implementation of the 2023 National Cybersecurity Strategy, the 2023 A.I. Executive Order, the 2024 Data Security Executive Order, and the 2023 U.S. National Standards Strategy for Critical & Emerging Technology. She also sat on the White House AI Council and led the Open Source Software Security Initiative. Previously, she served as Google’s Global Head of Product Security Strategy, and before that as Head of Security Policy and Election Integrity for Google Play and Android. Prior to working at Google, Camille led cyber diplomacy, technology policy, privacy, and technical policy areas like encryption and PNT as the Senior Policy Advisor for Cyber, Infrastructure & Resilience at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. She has also held leadership roles focused on cyber and technology on Capitol Hill, at Deloitte, and Cyveillance (now ZeroFOX), an open-source threat intelligence company. Camille’s professional achievements have earned her recognition from a multitude of entities throughout her career. Business Insider named her to their AI 100, recognizing the top people in AI. She’s been selected as a SANS Difference Maker, a Root100 Honoree, a Microsoft Security Changemaker of the Year, a CyberScoop50 Cyber Industry Leadership Honoree, and the Cyber Security Woman of the Year in the “Barrier Breaker” category. Camille co-founded the #ShareTheMicInCyber to support investment in a highly skilled and diverse workforce. This efforts serves to highlight the need for increased diversity in the cyber and national security fields. Camille is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She holds a B.S. from Miami University, a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law, and a CISO certificate from Carnegie Mellon University. Camille is CISSP and PMP certified. Batch is the president and CEO of Global LA, a public-private partnership promoting Los Angeles’ diverse business climate globally and fostering foreign investment and international collaboration in the region. With over two decades at the U.S. Department of Commerce, she most recently served as director of the Global Diversity Export Initiative. She led the Global Design & Construction Team and was the inaugural team leader for the Global China Team. Women’s History Month Feature: Dr. Deborah Elms, Founder and Executive Director, Asian Trade Centre Dr. Deborah Elms is the Founder and Executive Director of the Asian Trade Centre and the President of the Asia Business Trade Association. Concurrently, she is a member of APCO’s International Advisory Council, the G20 Trade and Investment Research Network, and the Advisory Board of the Trade and Investment Negotiation Adviser at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. She is also a Research Associate at the New Zealand APEC Study Centre and a Senior Fellow of the Ministry of Trade and Industry Academy of Singapore. Dr. Elms has extensive experience working with governments, international organizations, businesses, and the academe and is one of the leading experts on trade policy in the region. She was also active in her past leadership posts in international trade groups having served on the Trade and Investment Council of the World Economic Forum from 2017 to 2019, the International Technical Advisory Committee of the Global Trade Professionals Alliance, as well as being the chair of its Working Group on Trade Policy and Law. Prior to her current role, Dr. Elms was head of the Temasek Foundation Centre for Trade and Negotiations and Senior Fellow of International Political Economy at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Dr. Elms holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Washington, an MA in international relations from the University of Southern California, and bachelor’s degrees from Boston University. Women’s History Month Feature: Melissa A. Brown, Incoming Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam U.S. Department of State Melissa previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Southeast Asia in the Biden-Harris Administration from 2021-2024. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, she leads on Southeast Asia policy, overseeing the Offices of Mainland and Maritime Southeast Asia, as well as the Office of Multilateral Affairs. From 2019 to 2021, Melissa served as the Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., at the U.S. Mission to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta, Indonesia, where she led an unprecedented expansion of U.S. engagement with ASEAN. Previously, Melissa was the Counselor for Economic and Political Affairs at U.S. Embassy Singapore from 2016 to 2019, where she also served as Acting Deputy Chief of Mission for one year and oversaw execution of the historic 2018 U.S.-DPRK Singapore Summit. A Southeast Asia expert with a strong trade policy background, Melissa was previously assigned to Jakarta, Indonesia, as the Trade and Investment Unit Chief in U.S. Embassy Jakarta’s Economic Section. In Washington, she was also detailed to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and served on the U.S. State Department’s Vietnam Desk. Her earlier overseas diplomatic assignments included: Port Louis, Mauritius, and Bangkok, Thailand. Before joining the Foreign Service, Melissa was a corporate legal assistant. A graduate of Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, Melissa grew up in New Jersey and Jakarta, Indonesia.
