I’m excited to post for two pivotal roles on my executive team: chief content officer and chief operating officer, both senior vice presidents reporting to me. I’m partnering with S. Mitra Kalita’s wonderful URL Media Recruiting team on these searches and am delighted to work with Sonali Kohli and Leonor Ayala Polley. The ?????????? ?????????????? ?????????????? ?????? ?????? will ensure that audiences experience our storytelling, news and information as an essential and engaging part of their daily lives. I’m seeking a strategic and visionary leader with an innovative spirit and sharp instincts for journalism across digital, radio, television, podcasts and streaming platforms. This leader will shape our storytelling as we strive to lead the news and public affairs conversation across Oregon and the Pacific Northwest through our journalism and strong partnerships across the region. I’m looking for a leader with a record of nurturing talent and an understanding of how to reflect the rich diversity of communities we serve. They also should have demonstrated success in reaching new audiences and connecting with people who might not otherwise encounter us, even as we honor those who have been loyal audiences for many years. The ?????????? ?????????????????? ?????????????? ?????? ?????? will be the senior executive responsible for systems and operational aspects at the organization. This leader will apply their expertise at the intersection of operations and strategy to elevate and expand our service to communities, facilitate frictionless delivery of journalism to audiences across platforms, and create the circumstances for leaders and staff to do their best work.     Francisco Vara-Orta with vital perspective: "From experience, ultimately you don't want to work anywhere where they're not going to value you holistically. You're going to end up unhappy. The money, and the title and the prestige of the outlet is not worth it. It's going to eat at you slowly. So be yourself. It's hard, but it's better in the long run. Go to where you feel valued because even then, there's going to be other obstacles, so try and make it as easy on yourself as possible, especially in times of duress."     Free idea for good folks with advertising budgets (whether you are a major company, an agency or a foundation or nonprofit): This might be a very fine moment to consider shifting resources to advertise in some of the amazing local news sites that retain ideals of truth and integrity, and hold trust of their audiences. There are so many ways to find great local media, and they would love a small piece of ad dollars that currently go to increasingly less principled mega-sites, which are in the process of further degrading their social commitments. There are also orgs like URL Media that can bundle ad buys nationally. And great so many great local publications.
