Yesterday, I worked out. And you're probably thinking—"Okay… and?" But earlier, I had an allergic reaction. Throat burning. Coughing. All after breakfast. It was like the second I made the plan. Something tried to stop me. And that’s precisely what I hear from my clients. “I start strong, but then stress takes over.” “I try to plan my meals, but it’s exhausting.” “I do everything ‘right’ and still feel stuck.” Yesterday was just an example. The only difference between me today. And me five years ago? A coach. It wasn’t willpower. Because back then, I would’ve been doom-scrolling. Telling myself I’ll start fresh tomorrow. But the problem with tomorrow? It turns into next week. Next month. Next year. And after coaching so many women, I see the patterns. The things we tell ourselves when we feel stuck: ? “I’ll start over when things calm down.” ? “If I can’t do it perfectly, why bother?” ? “I just need more discipline.” But what if you didn’t have to keep starting over? But because I was exhausted. Overwhelmed. Numb. And then came the shame. Why couldn’t I just have more discipline? Here’s what I finally learned. Emotional eating has ZERO to do with willpower. It’s a habit. A way to self-soothe. A coping mechanism. And like any habit, it can be unlearned. The first step? Recognizing that food isn’t the enemy. Your patterns are. Once I saw that, everything changed. If you’re stuck in the cycle, listen to me. You’re not weak. You’re just human. And humans can change. You don’t need more willpower. You need a new way to cope.
