Thanks to several friends that have posted congratulations for my 10 year anniversary with UrbaNeXt. Those of you who know me from my former corporate IT Leadership roles or more recently as Owner with Angela Tracy of the Cincinnati area offices of AtWork Personnel may not know about UrbaNeXt. 10 years ago, my Association of Christian Schools International colleague Dr Vernard Gant and I established a nonprofit to offer a different model of #christianschool that would be accessible to young people in under-resourced communities, providing accelerated learning and a focus on discovering their calling in Christ. We partner with churches and ministries already serving those communities as an extension of their outreach and operate the school on their behalf, using what is now known as a #microschool model (though the term was not around then!). This vision did not become reality, however, until we moved to Cincinnati and a providence of relationships, church partners, school funders, and the Ohio #edchoice scholarship allowed it to happen. We are grateful to so many, but want to call out in particular our church partner in Roselawn New Prospect Baptist Church of Cincinnati,Ohio and The Yass Prize.
