The URA is preparing to clean up multiple blighted properties in the City of Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood. The goal of this work is to position the parcels for future development opportunities. "Thanks to federal American Rescue Plan Act dollars, we are able to take action on these properties. We envision a vibrant, welcoming, community-supported neighborhood business district with commercial, housing and mixed-use spaces,” said URA Executive Director Susheela Nemani-Stanger. In the coming months, the URA will be hosting informational community meetings and collecting feedback from residents to hear what types of developments they’d like to see take place on these properties in the future. The first meeting, co-hosted with the?Homewood Community Development Collaborative, will take place on November 14, 2024.

Big news, Pittsburgh! Today Bethlehem Haven, Pittsburgh Mercy and ACTION-Housing, Inc. officially broke ground on Uptown Flats. This development will?replace four currently vacant buildings on Fifth Avenue with 34 deeply affordable housing units and wrap-around supportive services geared toward individuals facing homelessness or housing insecurity, or fleeing domestic violence – all while encouraging independent living. The URA is proud to have invested $2.5 million in this project, putting funds from the HOME Investment Partnerships American Rescue Plan Program to great use.
